From DreamWorks Animation comes a surprising tale about growing up, finding the courage to face the unknown…and how nothing can ever train you to let go. What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic adventure spanning their lives. Welcome to the most astonishing chapter of one of the most beloved animated franchises in film history: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

Now chief and ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, Hiccup has created a gloriously chaotic dragon utopia. When the sudden appearance of female Light Fury coincides with the darkest threat their village has ever faced, Hiccup and Toothless must leave the only home they’ve known and journey to a hidden world thought only to exist in myth. As their true destines are revealed, dragon and rider will fight together—to the very ends of the Earth—to protect everything they’ve grown to treasure.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is the final installation in the trilogy. In this film, Hiccup and Toothless have grown in stature and character. Hiccup is now the Chief of Berk, along with Toothless, the alpha of the dragons. They live in a dragon utopia where humans and dragons exist harmoniously. As Berk becomes increasingly overpopulated and their existence threatened by Grimmel the dragon hunter, Hiccup recalls a legend from his childhood. There is a hidden world where only dragons exist.
The film is a trajectory of Hiccup and Toothless’s growth. Toothless falls in love with a Light Fury and the mating performance is adorable, which fans of the trilogy will definitely enjoy. As Toothless grows up and falls in love, Hiccup learns that he has to let Toothless go and be independent. Among all these are marriage talks with Astrid, showing how the characters are transitioning in their life stages, from lovey-dovey teenagers to adults ready to marry and govern Berk. There are also comedic moments throughout the film between the villagers and their dragons, which children and adults alike will enjoy.
After an attack on Berk to hunt Toothless, the people of Berk are displaced and this is the moment of character growth for Hiccup. He is left to lead his people alone when he lets Toothless chase after the dragon of his dreams. Without Toothless, Hiccup is crippled. Yet at this moment of the film, his family and friends step up to support him which pushes him to discover the hidden world where they can move the entire village of Berk and their dragons.
When they finally discover the hidden world, it is majestic. The emotional aspect of the scene will be very overwhelming for fans who have followed through since the first How to Train Your Dragon movie. The crux of the film lies on their journey in finding the hidden world, while escaping from Grimmel’s attacks. Grimmel is a cunning antagonist, which leads to many dramatic moments in the film with impressive scenes.

The movie is a heartwarming one as we see Hiccup and Toothless’ journey of growth together; where they both step up as the Alpha of their own kind.
