The model-actor Zo In Sung arrived in Singapore yesterday as part of his Southeast Asia publicity tour, in promotion of his popular Korean dram series, “That Winter, The Wind Blows”.
Back by popular demand, the re-run of That Winter, The Wind Blows will be airing in dual sound from 1st June 2013 on Saturdays and Sundays at 3.15 on ONE (SingTel Mio TV Ch 513, 604 / StarHub TV Ch 823, 876, 124)
The humble actor doesn’t think he has the good looks and only gives himself an average score of 7.5. While many would disagree with this figure, he says that a ’10’ would feel as if he had won an award.
“That Winter, The Wind Blows” was one of the highly anticipated dramas on Korea as it was Zo and actress Song Hye Kyo’s small screen comebacks. Besides ranking no.1 on the charts in Korea for the blockbuster time belt, the drama had a star studded OST performed by Kpop idols Kangta, Yesung (Super Junior) and Taeyeon (Girls’ Generation).
The drama is Zo’s first TV drama in eight years since ‘Spring Day’ in 2005, and his first acting project since completing mandatory military service in 2011. When asked about his decision to take on this project, he felt that here wasn’t a reason to reject it.
“There is no reason not to select this (That Winter, The Wind Blows). The best writer, the best director, the best actress and the best seniors. It’s an honour,” he continued.
During the filming of this drama, Zo injured his hand as he tried to grab the glass shards when it broke into pieces during one of the scenes. For him, the more unforgettable memories were not mainly during the actual shooting, but more on missing the people and experience gained during the production.
The award-winning actor and movie star is still very humble despite all the success gained over the years and still one that stands out among the Korean artistes. He jokingly said it is because of his height that makes him stand out. “I’m taller than average. I don’t know if it’s a positive thing, but I think that is what makes me stand out among the rest.”
In addition, he thinks that age and experience is what he has over the newer Korean idols and actors and that he won’t be able to compete in terms of fresh faces and youth.
When asked about his hardest part in making this drama, he cited the deep emotions needed as one of the factors. “Ever scene is challenging”, Zo said.
As most of his scenes required him to be emotionally tugged to his character, it needed him to dig deep into his emotions and character when filming it. “And there’s just too many lines! Being able to memorise all that is really difficult! ” he chuckled.
For now, the variety show that Zo hasn’t been on would be the internationally-popular show, Running Man. “Currently Kwang Soo is doing so well, so there isn’t a place for me.” Both known for their lanky build, Zo said that Kwang Soo is definitely taller than him
Thanks to ONE, this will mark the 31-year-old actor first visit to Singapore and more than 4000 fans were excited to meet him at the meet-and-greet event at the Suntec City Mall. Selected fans from contests had an exclusive opportunity to get up close with the actor! Some of them even role-played the famous ‘cotton candy scene’ in the drama, which brought laughter and screams to the atmosphere.
