The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring Live in Singapore!

It’s the movie concert event of the year where Howard Shore’s Grammy®-winning score will be performing live to Peter Jackson’s epic film for the first time in Southeast Asia!

The Metropolitan Festival Orchestra (MFO) announces that it is bringing the highly-acclaimed concert presentation of The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring to Singapore on 6, 7, 8 June at The Star Performing Arts Centre. This unique event sees Howard Shore's entire three-hour long Academy and Grammy Award-winning score performed live on-stage by 250 musicians, while the ground-breaking first instalment of Peter Jackson's Oscar-winning film trilogy, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved novels, is projected above the performers on a full-sized cinematic screen.

“We’re delighted to be presenting this truly unique experience of The Lord of the Rings –The Fellowship of the Ring as part of our inaugural season,” said Associate Professor Chan Tze Law, Music Director of the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra. “It’s an amazing way to relive the magic of the film and Howard Shore’s music, and these are exactly the types of experiences that the MFO aims to create for our audiences in Singapore.”

American Maestro Justin Freer will conduct all three performances, marshalling the considerable combined musical forces of the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, the International Festival Chorus, and The Young Voices of Vocal Associates in a truly breathtaking aural, visual and emotional experience. Joining Maestro Freer is soprano Kaitlyn Lusk, who has toured the world as a soloist in The Lord of the Rings Symphony, and Singapore’s very own boy soprano prodigy Samuel Yuen.
Composer Howard Shore said, "My first score for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring, was the beginning of my journey into the world of Tolkien, and I will always hold a special fondness for the music and the experience."
