Sentosa Spooktacular Returns with Inspiration from Thai Horror Movies!

Teaming up with GTH, the company that brought your the scariest Thai horror hits promises to not only deliver the scares, it’ll also be a fun ride for visitors!

Sentosa will be teaming up with renowned Thai movie production studios, GMM Tai Hub Co. Ltd. (GTH), in a joint production of its annual signature Halloween event – Sentosa Spooktacular 2013. Check out what movies you’ll be experiencing after the jump!

Sentosa Spooktacular, Asia’s largest horror fest, is set to take place for six nights in October and November. Fans of classic Thai horror films can expect to have their nerves tested in up to five elaborately themed, haunted trails inspired by GTH’s internationally acclaimed films namely, Coming Soon, Shutter, Pee Mak, Dorm and Body. These trails will be held once again at Fort Siloso.

The reason for choosing Thai horror movie as the main theme this year is because when anybody mentions about horror films, no doubt the Thai horror films are one of the scariest movies made. Thai horror movies have always been one of the top-of-mind recall for such references. From curses to revengeful ghosts and demonic possessions, Thai horror movies have never failed to deliver the chills.

Senior director of International Business department for GMM Tai Hub Co., Ltd, Yongyoot Thongkongtoon mentioned that they chose specifically these five films for the Halloween event as they resonate well with Singaporeans during their screening in the past few years.

“When we reeced the place, I felt that Fort Siloso reminded me of a scene in Shutter, with the photos on the wall and doors surrounding it”, Parkpoom Wongpoom, film director of the global hit, Shutter added.

Expect to ‘bump into’ “Nak”, ghost wife in Pee Mak, vengeful sprit “Dararai” from Body, “Netre” from Shutter, angry child “Wichien” from Dorm and fans’ favourite, “Chaba” from Coming Soon. Besides these themed-ghosts, Spooktacular’s famed resident ghost ambassadors such as the Pontianak, the Chinese Ghost Bride, the Dead Soldier and the Chinese Vampire (Jiang Shi)!

It was a dream come true for Wongpoom for a film to be part of a theme park and adding to the excitement, Paween Purijitpanya, director of the slick horror Body also said that he was very excited and happy when he first heard the news.

They not only want visitors of the Sentosa Spooktacular to feel “scarily fun”, Wongpoom said “cannot sleep”, to which they all burst out laughing.

Interested participants are encouraged to show-off their acting chops by submitting video re-enactments of scenes from a choice of Thai horror films; Shutter, Pee Mak, Body, Dorm or Coming Soon.

The contest will run via the specially designed Facebook App and begins on 14 June 2013. All entries must be submitted by 31st July 2013 and the top 5 entries will be selected based on a combination of an equal percentage on public voting on the Sentosa Spooktacular Facebook page and judges' decisions.
