Nu’est Wants to be in Action Movies!

The five-member group, NU’EST arrived on our sunny island last Saturday for a showcase tour and a fan-meet the day after. This marks their second time here in Singapore, but their first ever full-fledged concert showcase!

Short for Nu(New), Established, Style, Tempo, NU’EST calls themselves an urban electro group with influential music styles. Comprising of 5 members - JR(leader), Aron, Baekho, Minhyun and Ren, NU’EST made their official debut in March 2012 with title track ‘Face’. The debut song was made popular by its unique choreography which included the chair-dance.

Considered as one of the rising boy bands in Korea, NU’EST promises to work hard for the future. 17-year-old Min Hyun cited Big Bang as his music influence and really admires them due to their powerful performances on stage. Oldest member, Aron looks up to RnB singer Anthony Hamilton and Chris Brown.

Leader JR mentioned Eminem as his idol while Ren greatly supported Lady Gaga. Just like Min Hyun, Baekho also said Big Bang is the group he likes very much.

Though NU’EST debuted in the Korean music industry not too long ago, their songs such as “Face”, “Action” and “Hello” quickly became music hits and well-liked songs amongst fans.

Though each song brings a different tempo and music style, NU’EST showed their vocal and performance abilities during their concert. Whenever the first few beats of the songs played, fans couldn’t help but to scream and cheer for them.

A special performance was specially put together for the Singapore fans where they sang an English version of “Sandy”, a sweet love song about a girl called Sandy. Besides serenading fans with their voices during ballads, they definitely brought the house down with powerful dance moves and swift choreography during songs such as “Action”. Fans were also seen singing along during the song.

Most singers in Korea have ventured into other aspects in the industry such as hosting and acting. When asked about what kind of roles they would like to portray as an actor, “action star” came of the most from the members.

Baekho was one of them as his statement was supported by other members as he was voted as the member who works out the most and loves sports activities.

The boys sure knew what the fans were looking for, giving them the smiles, waves and even made their way down the stage during performances, giving them an up-close experience one would never forget.
