[InC-Highlight] Movies To Watch this August!

By InCinemas  /  03 Aug 2013 (Saturday)
Wow, July went past really fast and as promised, here are our movie highlights for the month of August!

There are 2 local films to look out for this month, with Chia Yee Wei's That Girl in Pinafore and Anthony Chen's award-winning film, Ilo Ilo. Also, the ever-endearing little blue Smurfs to brighten up our day in Smurfs 2!

That Girl In Pinafore - Now Showing

Directed by local filmmaker Chia Yee Wei, The Girl In Pinafore is a coming-of-age teenage love story, centered around xinyao music. One would naturally think of other films like “You Are The Apple of My Eye’ and ‘Glee’, but it’s essentially different in terms of story and development. Plus, many upcoming stars to look out for!

(Whee! More photos as seen below, taken at the Press Conference!)

Synopsis
A coming of age teenage romance from Singapore set in 1993, about dreams, friendships, first love, and the difficult choice between following your head, or listening to your heart.

The story follows the teenagers' efforts to bring business back to a struggling folk music pub, and the blossoming love between Jiaming and May, both fans of Singaporean folk music.

The Smurfs 2 - Opens 7 August

Who can forget.. La la la la la la... Our favourite 3-apples-tall blue Smurfs are back and this time, it’s another adventure in Paris! The evil Gargamel isn’t going to give up on getting the Smurfs and creates his own ‘naughties’ which aren’t quite ‘Smurf-ed’ yet.

Also, Papa Smurf, Clumsy and Smurfette will be around Singapore so be sure to stay tuned to InCinemas as we will be releasing the schedule of where to spot these Smurfs!

(Tag yourself/friends if you took pictures with the Smurfs!)

(Kay-po Smurf told us the schedule... Here it is. Shhh!)

Synopsis
In this sequel to the hybrid live action/animated family blockbuster comedy The Smurfs, the evil wizard Gargamel creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence.

But when he discovers that only a real Smurf can give him what he wants, and only a secret spell that Smurfette knows can turn the Naughties into real Smurfs, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and brings her to Paris, where he has been winning the adoration of millions as the world's greatest sorcerer.

The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet's crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens' luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium.
