The All-Babes Cineleisure Dance Battle Returns!

By InCinemas  /  12 Sep 2013 (Thursday)
Cathay Cineleisure Orchard Raises the Profile of Female Dances with the only All-Female Dance Battle in Singapore!

With a panel of international judges like Lee Daniel, attractive prizes of up to $30,000 to be won and up to $6000 in cash to be given out at this dance competition!

The signature All-Babes Cineleisure Dance (ABCD) Battle returns with an aim to raise the profile of female dancers in Singapore with a panel of international judges at the Finals – Lee Daniel, Aimee Lee and Andre Fuentes, each of whom are world-renowned dancers and have choreographed and performed with superstars such as Britney Spears, Usher, Jennifer Lopez, PSY, Big Bang, G-Dragon and other dance artistes.

“As a judge, I’m looking for a full-out (performance). I want you to work it! I’m looking for great stage presence – and I look forward to seeing you!” commented Judge Aimee Lee Lucas.

Shoutout from judge Aimee Lee Lucas!

An audition was held on Saturday, 7 September 2013 at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, where hopeful female soloists and dance crews showcased their slick dance moves in a bid to vie for spots in the finals. A total of 10 soloists and 14 dance crews were shortlisted by veteran dancers Kate Willis, Larry Liu and Samantha Lee, and will be battling it out on stage on 5 October.

Set apart from most dance competitions that focus on a specific dance genre, ABCD Battle 2013 is free-style and emphasises on versatility. The competition is also open to both local and international soloists and dance crews. This allows dancers from all genres of dance – from Hip Hop, Breaking and Modern to Ballroom Dancing – and cultural backgrounds pit their moves against each other, resulting in an exchange of diverse dance experiences and the crowning of a dance champion.

The champion of the Group Category will bring home $6,000 in cash – the highest cash prize to be given out for a dance competition in Singapore; on top of a larger-than-life-sized poster at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard. The first and second runners-up will win $3,000 and $1,500 cash respectively.

The champion of the Solo Category will win $1,000 in cash, together with a larger-than-life-sized poster at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, while the first runner-up will receive $500 in cash. All finalists will also receive four complimentary workshops with dance veterans and judges for the finals, Andre Fuentes and Aimee Lee Lucas, in addition to a portable speaker for each solo competitor and group.

ABCD Battle was introduced by Cathay Cineleisure Orchard in 2011 to recognise female dancers with a passion for all genres of dance. The annual competition aims to become a regional platform for both aspiring and established dancers to take their individuality and interpretation of dance to the world stage.
