Getting to Know 'The White Storm'!

By InCinemas  /  06 Nov 2013 (Wednesday)
Upcoming action-thriller The White Storm sees a stellar trio, Sean Lau, Louis Koo and Nick Cheung who work as cops for the Hong Kong Police, but one raid mission in Thailand changed their lives forever.

Get to know the characters and watch a 'the-making-of' footage after the jump!

[Synopsis]
Lifelong friends Tin (Sean Lau), Chow (Louis Koo) and Wai (Nick Cheung) all work for the Hong Kong Police Department’s Narcotics Bureau. The three tough law enforcers would readily risk their lives for each other, but a dangerous mission in Thailand could put their brotherly bond to the test. Capturing notorious “Eight-faced Buddha”, South East Asia’s most powerful drug lord, would give ambitious chief inspector Tin the promotion he has been working toward, while his loyal deputy Wai would be happy with a little more respect and glory.

In Thailand, Tin and Wai collaborate with local police to plan an operation to trap Eight-faced Buddha through Chow’s undercover gang. The covert operation goes bad at the last minute, and a battle breaks out. The three friends are confronted by a tragic emotional dilemma...

Ma Ho-tin / Tin (Sean Lau)

A chief inspector in the Narcotics Bureau, Tin is a short-tempered and tenacious workaholic. Though he deeply cares for his subordinates Chow and Wai, he never puts his compassion into words. In the operation to capture Eight-faced Buddha in Thailand, Tin had no choice but to sacrifice Wai, resulting in the break-up of his friendship with Chow.

Accepting the responsibility for the failed operation, Tin was demoted to an inspector after coming back to Hong Kong. Since then, he has been insisting on his own beliefs, striving to crack down on cartel activities despite all challenges. He patiently waits for his next chance to arrest Eight-faced Buddha.

So Kin-chow / Chow (Louis Koo)
A police undercover and Tin's informer, Chow is getting sick of his covert life. He grew up with Tin and Wai. As a family-minded man, Chow wishes he could end his undercover mission as soon as possible because his wife Chloe is pregnant and he wants a normal life as a husband and father. For his true love, Chow made a painful decision in the Thai operation.

After returning to Hong Kong, he got promoted thanks to his contribution as an undercover, replacing Tin as the chief inspector in Narcotics Bureau. Though tipped to have a bright career prospect, he has been living in a nightmare, haunted by his painful past.

Cheung Tsz-wai / Wai (Nick Cheung)
A probationary inspector in the Narcotics Division, Wai is honest and sincere, always living in contentment. He never regrets being a subordinate of Tin because he respects him. In fact, he treats Tin like his own older blood brother. Yet, Wai also protects Chow's interest all the same. When Chow fights with Tin, Wai always makes peace. However, after Tin gave him up in the Thai operation, he felt betrayed and completely heart-broken. Luckily, Wai survived the assault and started living his life with his twisted survival philosophy.

Action and stunts revealed in this 1-minute 'The-making-of' clip, with snippets from director Benny Chan!
