Last weekend, Andy Su from Taiwan was crowned the winner for the third season of the reality singing competition - Scoot: K-Pop Star Hunt 3!
He is the youngest and first male winner, breaking the streak of Thai winners who bagged the top honors the past two years.
He captured the hearts of the judges with his acoustic rendition of Taeyang’s I Need A Girl and an energetic song and dance item of G-Dragon’s Crayon + Michigo. The young lad has won for himself a contract deal with CJ E&M and FNC Entertainment and will undergo intensive training to be a K-pop singer. He will also stand a chance to collaborate with artists from FNC Entertainment and make a stage appearance on Global M! Countdown with his own debut single.
The search for the winner of Scoot: K-Pop Star Hunt 3 began in August, with Singapore being the first to kick start the auditions, then to Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia and finally the Philippines. Two most outstanding contestants from each territory were selected and flown to Seoul to receive professional training with CJ E&M and FNC Entertainment. The competition goes one full circle as the top 4 finalists emerged after battling through four missions to earn their ticket to the Grand Finale held here in Singapore.
While trying to contain his happiness from winning, Andy from Taiwan said, “This came totally unexpected as I felt that my first performance wasn’t up to standard. All I told myself was to focus and give it my all and the results will take care of itself. I was glad that it did.”
Besides the performances put up by the Top 4 finalists, audiences were in for a treat as the alumni of the past seasons of K-Pop Star Hunt, Maressa, Jasmine, Anthea and Yvonne took the stage to cheer them on.
Helming the judges’ table for the grand finale of Scoot: K-Pop Star Hunt 3 are Han Seong Ho, CEO of FNC Entertainment, Ko Kwang Il, CEO of FNC Academy and Lee Jae Jin, from F. T. Island.
Lee Jae Jin chirped, “I am honoured to be here as a judge for the Scoot: K-Pop Star Hunt 3 Grand Finale. I am looking forward to working with the winner, Andy, in the near future. Welcome to the family!”
Asked about the competition and the winner, Mr. Han Seong Ho commented that it was a very tough decision among the judges to decide on the winner but Andy showed a lot of potential. His performances have portrayed completely different sides of him. With
training, Andy would definitely go very far in the industry.
Echoing his sentiments, Mr. Ko Kwang Il added that he was won over by Andy’s second performance because he could feel Andy’s desire and passion to win by his rendition of G-Dragon’s dance tracks. It was this performance that sealed the deal for him.
