Exclusive Rupert Grint HP7 Part 1 Interview

By InCinemas  /  06 Apr 2011 (Wednesday)
Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) DVD Q&A

Want to know how Rupert Grint feel about the Harry Potter series now that it has come to the end? Here's the exclusive Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) interview we have from the Alliance Entertainment Singapore.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 1 will be arriving onto Blu-Ray Combo Pack and DVD on 15 April 2011. Read about their special features and also enjoy more exclusive movie stills HERE.

QUESTION: What was it like to leave Hogwarts and film on the road?
RUPERT GRINT: It was great to be out of the studios for a change and it gave the film a very different feeling. Just being in forests and on beaches, it just had a really cool feeling about it.

QUESTION: Did it create a different environment among the crew that was out there shooting?
RUPERT GRINT: Yeah, it was a long shoot and because we filmed both parts simultaneously it was hard to really know quite what was going on.  I was struck with that a few times.  It was nice to have an escape from the studios, and I suppose it's quite a holiday kind of feel.  It's quite rare that we get out of the studio because in previous films, they just build everything there.  It's nice to get the sense of this big world.

QUESTION: It's a much more mature Ron than we've seen in the past, a much more serious and darker Ron.  What was that like to play him like that?  Was it fun, challenging?
RUPERT GRINT: Yeah, it was fun actually.  It was quite refreshing to play that different side of Ron that we haven't really seen in previous films, this aggression and paranoia and jealousy.  It was cool to see all these characters really snap at each other and have these little clashes.  That was great.

QUESTION: This is the first time that Ron has a real “hero” moment, they are usually Harry’s. What was it like to play the hero?
RUPERT GRINT: That's true.  It's quite a rare moment where Ron gets to do something useful, and I really enjoyed that.

QUESTION: Looking across the whole series, do you have a favorite moment from any of the films or a behind the scenes moment that you cherish?
RUPERT GRINT: There's just so many over the years. Filming the chess scene from Sorcerer’s Stone was always quite cool for me. I really enjoyed that.

QUESTION: And what do you take away from this experience?
RUPERT GRINT: It's hard to put your finger on.  I suppose I've learned a lot over the years about films and stuff.  It's been like an education, really, working with all these different directors and this amazing cast that these films have got.

QUESTION: Was there one director or actor that you learned the most from?
RUPERT GRINT: I suppose I'd say all of them have added their own little thing.  I think, especially with the actors, you kind of pick up little things when you work with them. Alan Rickman kind of fascinates me because he's just got this amazing presence about him and this voice.  He seems to be always in character.  But he's lovely.  He's just a really, really nice guy; it's great.
