If you are into global film festivals, but have a tight schedule… VSIFF does it “quick” - an annual global event the 'Very Short International Film Festival' [all films are three minutes or less] happens “at the same time everywhere” in 15 countries and up to 70 cities including Singapore at the Alliance Francaise Theatre 6, 7 and 8 May 2011.

This year we have 46 films in the International Selection from 18 countries including; Belgium (x 1), Canada (x 1), France (x 13), Germany (x 2), Italy (x 1), Netherlands (x 2), New Zealand (x 1), Norway (x 1), Romania (x 1), Singapore (x 1), South Korea (x 1), Spain (x 2), Sweden (x 2), Switzerland (x 2), Taiwan (x 1), Turkey (x 2), United Kingdom (x 5) and the United States of America (x 7).

And one of the Singapore participants made it into the International Selection. His name is Tan Siang Yu, an Art teacher/Part-time filmmaker, whose short clip gained the likes of the acclaimed local director, Eric Khoo. Watch the clip from RazorTV below.

The Local Selection consists of 26 films from 4 countries including Australia (x 2), Indonesia (x1), Romania (x 1) and Singapore (x 22). Selected from 170 local entries received 10 are from Academic Institutions, 2 from High Schools, 6 from Film studios, 6 from independent filmmakers and two the result of filmmaking workshops VSIFF organized for Singapore Arts Festival 2011 “I Want to Remember” special category held in January at Objectifs.

Our judges a mix of expertise and nationality but all active practitioners with Singapore as their based; Eric Khoo with expertise in film, Xavier Nicolas animation, Anita Kapoor documentary, Pierre Perrett commercial, and Juliana Yasin art.
