There’s No Stopping these Singers at Spring Wave Singapore 2014!

It’s the 2nd year that Spring Wave Music and Art Festival is holding it’s 6-hour outdoor Mandopop concert in Singapore and the artiste lineup for this year’s festival is one to look forward to.

Besides Taiwanese diva A-Mei and vocal powerhouse Jam Hsiao headlining the concert, queen of idol drama soundtracks Della Ding Dang, Yao Yao and popular idol Bii will also be belting out hits this June at The Meadow - Gardens By The Bay.

“Performing live is not only just the crowd and singer on stage, but everyone, soaking in the atmosphere rather quickly. Most importantly, we get to enjoy the crowd singing along to the songs together as well," said Ding during a press conference yesterday held at Orchard Hotel.

This is the first time Ding is participating in the Spring Wave music festival. Expect great songs coming from this award-winning singer who participated in Singapore’s stage production, Glass Anatomy last year.

“As this is my first time performing at this festival, I was going to ask my manager if I could wear something cooling that day. It’s going to be hot in June!” she continued.

Besides Ding, Yao Yao and Bii were also present at the press conference, shared their thoughts on the upcoming music festival. During our interview, all three said there might be a possibility they will be walking amongst the crowd, interacting with fans during their performances.

“I’m easily influenced by the crowd; If they are a very passionate bunch, I will also feed off their energy and get ‘high’ during the concert,” quipped Yao Yao who was recently awarded the Best Newcomer Artiste at the 50th Golden Horse Awards.

She was awarded for her lead role in Step Back to Glory, a film about ten girls from disadvantaged backgrounds who enter a prestigious girls' high school in Taipei to be members of a tug-of-war team. When asked about her desired roles she would like to play in the future, the 23-year-old actress said that ‘action’ is what she would like to try next. “Be it a modern or period film, I would really want to give a shot at it. Perhaps because of my outer physique that a lot of people see me as a little kid. I don’t mind doing a child-friendly version one too”, she joked.

Korean-Taiwanese singer Bii is also working on his physique, hoping to be beef up his body in the near future and shared that he would like to build his abs. “I often tell Jian An (label mate) and my manager that I want to work out, but they always tell me to get put on some weight,” he joked.

Besides performing their hit songs and a few special performances prepared for the Singapore audience, A-mei, Jam Hsiao, Della Ding Dang, Yao Yao and Bii will be donating their prized personal possessions for auction as part of Spring Wave Singapore Music Festival charity initiative. Ding, Yao Yao and Bii revealed they will be donating their stage outfits and the exact items will be unveiled on Spring Wave Singapore’s official Facebook page on the weeks to come.

“Those are the outfits which I really like and believe that those who received it will feel the same too”, the ‘Come Back To Me’ singer said. He then elaborated that the chosen items were outfits that have special meanings; the first time he participated in an award ceremony and another was the outfit he wore at his first performance at the Taipei Arena.

“I will carefully pack the outfits and perhaps spray a bit of my favourite perfume,” chuckled Yao Yao. “I will most likely write a short message on a card as well!”

This charity event is a Spring Wave annual tradition and this year, all the proceeds will be donated to Little Yellow Flower Education Foundation based in Hong Kong as well as Singapore’s Student Advisory Centre that cares for the underprivileged children.

Besides the star-studded concert that one can expect, concertgoers can get a taste of Taiwanese delicacies for there will be booths selling authentic and popular Taiwanese snacks!
