Besides documentaries and films in the 1980s, don’t forget to purchase your tickets to the screenings by renowned filmmaker Ichikawa Kon, who was dubbed as ‘the master of great versatility’.

This year’s retrospective highlights the films from Ichikawa Kon. He did not stick to a certain genre and continued to make films of various types from satirical comedy, urban comedy, mystery, drama, documentary to the adaptation of literary works. Ichikawa kept working as a film director until he passed away in February 2008 at the age of 92 years.

The closing film of the festival is kept a secret and tickets to this screening will be balloted among festival attendees. Instructions regarding the ballot will be given during each festival screening.
