By InCinemas  /  19 Sep 2014 (Friday)

The annual Asian music festival, Sundown Festival, is back in its sixth year with a fresh lineup, with the addition of artistes representing three more countries this year - Singapore, Malaysia and India. Check out the first wave of artiste lineup after the jump!

The outdoor music event will be held at the F1 Pit Building in November where music aficionados will not only be able to enjoy the good music, popular Asian food will also be served. Since its first showcase in 2009, the festival has now grown to more than two and a half times in audience size.

“Sundown Festival is a special platform and we want the festival fans to have a taste of other Asian artistes because it is very diverse,” said Samantha Chan, founder for Sundown Festival. “We know that Kpop has taken to a heighten sensation in Singapore but if you look back at the festival, the Kpop, Jrock and Mandopop fans are (enjoying the concert) together, they know they are here to truly enjoy Asian music. I can’t wait for the 22nd of November to experience the vibes again.”

Artiste Lineup
Singapore: TBA
China:    Regina (林琳)
Hong Kong: Kate Tsui (徐子珊)
India: Kanika Kapoor
Indonesia: S.O.S
Japan: TBA
Korea: TBA
Malaysia: TBA
Philippines: Pupil feat. Ely Buendia
Taiwan: Chang Chen Yue (张震岳)

In terms of the lineup, though artistes of four countries namely Singapore, Japan, Korea and Malaysia have yet to be announced, InCinemas managed to gather a few clues from the organisers.

“For Singapore, it’s a female singer and she is very prominent. For Korea and Japan, it’s going to be a band and for Malaysia, it’s also going to be a ‘she’,” revealed Chan and Kelvin Goh, adding: “They will be our headliners (of the concert).”

Also present at the media conference were up-and-coming local talents: hip-hop ShiGGa Shay and Jeremy Teng. Both will be performing as opening acts at the Sundown Festival.

“You can probably expect dancers on my set… b-boys and stuff, so that is quite exciting,” the ‘Lion City Kia’ rapper shared. “Yeah, new songs and a lot of stage elements as well.”

For ballad singer Jeremy Teng, who represented Singapore at ‘Voice Of China 3’ earlier this year, expressed his excitement for the upcoming gig. “I’ve never performed at such a big event before and being to represent Singapore as one of the artistes is a big honour and privilege for me.”
