By InCinemas  /  12 Oct 2014 (Sunday)

The annual StarHub TVB Awards ended on a high note where hot favourites Ruco Chan and Charmaine Sheh walked away with the 'TV King & Queen' title respectively!

Last night, Singapore played host to nearly 20 of Hong Kong's biggest TV stars, including Linda Chung, Roger Kwok, Charmaine Sheh and Kenneth Ma at Marina Bay Sands for the StarHub TVB Awards 2014.

"We met a lot of setbacks during the production; people fell ill, some were injured... in all, it was quite a headache," elaborated Sheh to a group of reporters after the awards show.

She added: "For this drama (Line Walker), I didn't know who was I playing when I accepted the role. I asked my producers this question, 'Have I played this role in the past?' when he said no, I trusted him and agreed to be in it."

The hit drama also won praise from the local media for its well-written, gripping script, and took home the trophy for Singapore Media’s Favourite TVB Drama.

Modern thriller serial Black Heart White Soul which took home an impressive four trophies. These included My Favourite TVB Drama and My Favourite TVB Male and Female TV Characters, bagged respectively by Roger Kwok and Kristal Tin.

For their electrifying onscreen chemistry in the drama, Roger and Kristal also added a fourth award for the drama with My Favourite TVB On-Screen Couple, to which Kwok said he was 'most proud of it' among the other awards he won for the night.

"My happiest award was the 'My Favourite TVB on-screen couple with Ah-Tin (Kristal Tin), you don't get this award very often and I really enjoyed filming with her," said the 50-year-old actor.

New award categories - My Favourite TVB Supporting Actor and My Favourite TVB Supporting Actress were won by the boyish hunk Him Law for 'The Hippocractic Crush II', and gorgeous Sharon Chan for 'The Ultimate Addiction'.

Chan, who married to beau William Lui earlie this month shared she 'postponed her honeymoon for this event'. "It's my first time here in Singapore and I felt very honoured to be invited here. This opportunity is hard to come by so I told him we should postpone it."

Newcomer Louis Cheung, who proved his potential in dramas such as a “baddie” in Black Heart White Soul, garnered a well-deserved win in Best New TVB Artiste award.

Hosted by Carol Cheng and Derek Li, the StarHub TVB Awards 2014 featured exciting performances by talented singer-dancer Alex To and veteran performer Nancy Sit. Alex sang a sexy rendition of ‘Kiss’ to the delight of screaming fans in the theatre while Nancy, who was dressed in a traditional Nyonya outfit, performed “We are Singapore” with Wong Cho Lam and a group of students from Wellington Primary.

The performances got everyone on their feet, dancing to the fast tunes of the songs. Sit and Wong even went down to interact with the audiences and artistes.

Stealing the limelight at the red carpet was Linda Chung, in a multi-coloured long dress, whom fans voted via StarHub TV Buddy as the winner of the best dressed Red Carpet Star.
