Queen of J-pop Ayumi Hamasaki Has No Intentions of Quitting Showbiz

By InCinemas  /  18 Oct 2014 (Saturday)
Japan's largest summer festival, a-nation is bringing some of the biggest Japanese acts to Singapore for the first time.

Artistes including Ayumi Hamasaki, m-flo and Sonar Pocket are set to rock the stage to thousands of screaming fans at the MasterCard Theatres.

a-nation Singapore Premium Showcase
Date: 18 October (Sat)
Time: 5pm
Venue: Grand Theatre, MasterCard theatres, Marina Bay Sands
Ticket Pricing: $138 to $248

"If I really wanted to quit, then I would have already done it," said the Japanese diva at the press conference (17 Oct), which was attended together with label-mates m-flo.

"Because I'm still here means I just can't picture the life without music," she added.

The singer revealed the she will be performing new songs from her 'Colors' album and songs which fans are familiar with. She also expressed interest in hoping to stage a solo concert here in the near future.

"I'm so glad to be here. This is not the first time for me (being in Singapore), it was 12 years ago. A lot of places have changed and I am really enjoying my stay. I hope everyone will enjoy (the concert)... and make great memories of a-nation!"

While this is not the first time m-flo’s Verbal has performed in Singapore, it is J-pop duo m-flo performing here as a group. The two artistes, Verbal and DJ Taku shared light moments including anecdotes of their friendship during school days.

Verbal has known DJ Taku since fifth Grade, and his first encounter with DJ Taku was when he burst into school with a video camera and asked Verbal to be a part of his own movie. While the movie was never made, the friendship has grown since.

"Verbal was really talkative, just like his name. He was always saying something funny. We never really hang out when we were in elementary or junior high. VERBAL was more into skateboarding while I was more into music... we started to make music together in high school," said Taku.

(More information on the concert here!)

Ayumi Hamasaki and m-flo will join 5 other artistes from Japan, Taiwan and Singapore for “a-nation Singapore”.  The premium showcase will feature top artistes performing up close and the latest fashion-related content.
