The Top 6 Biggest Oscar Nomination Snubs!
By

16 Jan 2015 (Friday)
Every year, we expect a few surprises and snubs at the annual announcement of the Academy Awards nominations.
This year's set of snubs was more notable than most. Read on to find out the top 6 biggest Oscar snubs we simply couldn't get over.
(Find out the complete list of the 87th Academy Awards nominees!)
1) Amy Adams
One of the biggest surprise of the night - Amy Adams is not among the 'Best Actress' nomination list. I repeat. NOT!
She won the Golden Globes Awards just a week ago for her role in Tim Burton's 'Big Eyes', and everyone (well, almost everyone) thought it was a sure lock but sadly it wasn't enough to get her in the Oscars.
Adams had been nominated five times at the Oscars; once for Best Actress and four times for Best Supporting Actress.
(Golden Globes 2015: Complete list of winners!)
Big Eyes
opens in Singapore 29 Jan 2015!
(WIN preview tickets)
2) Clint Eastwood
American Sniper received a number of Oscar nominations such as Best Picture, Best Actor (Bradley Cooper), Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay, but nothing for the veteran filmmaker?
American Sniper
opens in Singapore 22 Jan 2015!
(WIN preview tickets)
3) The LEGO Movie
Everything is NOT that awesome after all...
Perhaps this was the biggest surprise from the announcement event. No Best Animated Feature nomination for Phil Lord and Chris Miller's The LEGO Movie?
It came as a shock when the adorable brick-feature didn't receive the awards at the Golden Globes, but many were certain it could possibly take home the award at the Oscars instead.
Here's what Lord and Miller has to say as they took their snubs to twitter in a perfect way:
4) Interstellar
Now, the big Christopher Nolan's film,
Interstellar
had nothing for the Academy Awards except for technical awards like 'Best Production Design', 'Best Editing' and 'Best in Sound Mixing'?
It may not be a superb film to be in the running for 'Best Film', but come on, at least a screenplay or a directing nod!
5) Jennifer Aniston
Many thought Jennifer Aniston would finally be recognised by The Academy for being a versatile actress, especially after her dramatic transformative turn in
Cake
. The 45-year-old actress had received nominations at the Golden Globes, SAGs and Critics' Choice Awards but nothing for the Oscars.
6) Gone Girl
Why isn't Gone Girl nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay? The book-to-screen movie had many people talking about it, and most felt it turned out pretty fantastic.
It is one of the highest earners of the season's awards contenders, but this thriller didn't go in line with most of the Academy voters except for Rosamund Pike for a Best Actress nomination - which she truly deserves that recognition.
Tune in to HBO Asia (StarHub TV Ch 601) on 23 February from 6am for the live telecast of the biggest awards show in the world!
