Given that Emma Stone was rumored for roles in both 21 Jump Street and the Spider-Man reboot at the same time, it was fair to assume that, once she opted to play Gwen Stacy, the 21 Jump Street role would have to fall by the wayside. The Jonah Hill-led reboot is still on schedule to start shooting next year, but as Stone confirmed to
MTV, she won't be a part of it.
"I don't think I'm going to be part of that, but Jonah is one of my favorite people in the entire world," Stone told them, while adding with usual actor enthusiasm, "I'm psyched to see that movie." You can imagine why she can't focus too much on what could have been, though, given that she's knee-deep in preparation for Spider-Man, alongside co-star and future Peter Parker. She talked to MTV a little about the prep process, though since she's obviously limited from revealing too much, the conversation was mostly focused on her hair:
Today I went and did hair tests, because I have blonde hair now since Gwen has blonde hair. My natural hair is blonde, so it's kind of nice. I looked in the mirror and said, "Oh my god, it's me again, it's been so long!" We're finalizing the visual stuff. And I think we'll start actually rehearsing, because we start shooting in two weeks.
"There are a lot of changes happening on a day to day basis. There's a lot of open dialogue about where we're going with this and how Peter and Gwen are going to come together and what makes the most sense for the story we're telling. It's an ever-changing thing. We're still in that development period. It's so fantastic. My background is in improv and things like that, so this kind of ever-changing nature is ideal for me."
You can read a lot more vague chatter about Spider-Man in MTV's article
here. With production starting soon both Stone and Garfield will be going into hibernation, so count on this being the last speculation from the cast themselves that we hear for a few more months.
