mm2 Asia Introduces Singapore’s Biggest Online Chinese Singing Competition - Hear Me Sing!

mm2 Asia, the company that brought you local movies like Ah Boys to Men movie series and 1965, is introducing a new singing online competition, Hear Me Sing 《听见心声音》, where the winner will receive S$5,000 cash, a professional voice-training course in Taiwan and an acting role in a movie produced by mm2 Entertainment.

The top 16 participants will get to attend coaching workshops by professional mentors, Eric Ng 黄韵仁 and Jim Lim 林倛玉, to prepare them for eight weeks of competition. The top two contestants will then compete for the championship in the Grand Finals. Audiences will be able to stream clips from the competition via StarHub Go.

"We're very excited to launch this innovative online Chinese singing competition," said Mr Ng Say Yong, Managing Director of mm2 Entertainment. "Viewership habits have shifted dramatically to the online space, and we want to engage audiences there. Through this competition, we also want to find fresh and talented faces to feed mm2's slate of local and regional movies."

The competition will be hosted by Wang Wei Liang王伟良and judged virtually by a panel of renowned artistes, Roy Li Fei Hui 黎沸挥, Xiao Han 小寒 and winners of Taiwan singing competitions, Daniel Che Zi 车志立 (Winner of 2015 Top Million Star星光大道) and Dennis Sun Ziyou 孙自佑 (Winner of 2009 One Million Star 超级星光大道).

“We can’t wait to share our experiences to the contestants. As both of us were former contestants on singing competitions, we understand what the contestants are going through, and as judges, we just want to encourage and motivate them,” said Sun.

“The best advice I can give the contestants is to follow your heart,” said Che. “ If you really love music and if this is something that makes you happy, think of it as sharing the happiness with other people. Don’t just think of the negatives…. don’t be afraid to fall.”

So, what does it take to score? “Enjoy,” said the two overseas judges. “We want to see that you are actually enjoying your performance,” shared Che.

“As long as you truly enjoyed it and not overthink about other things like forgetting the lyrics, it will show through your performances, and that’s what we are looking for.”
