Local Film 'Young & Fabulous' Celebrates S$1.2 Million at Box Office!

Local coming-of-age film 'Young & Fabulous' gathered today to celebrate the film’s recent million dollar box office success. The film starring Aloysius Pang, Joshua Tan, Joyce Chu and Gurmit Singh, achieved S$1,221,851.56 at the box office after 19 days of its release in Singapore, despite facing strong competition from Hollywood summer holiday blockbusters such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, X-Men: Apocalypse, and The Angry Birds Movie.

Among the attendees were executive producer and director Joyce Lee, scriptwriter Rebecca Leow, actors Henry Thia, Aloysius Pang, Joshua Tan, Jeffrey Xu and Jordan Ng, as well as members of the media and partners such as Media Development Authority Singapore and Golden Village Pictures.

The luncheon began with a symbolic ice sculpture breaking ceremony, where the 'Young & Fabulous' team smashed a ‘1,200,000’ ice sculpture to signify more record-breaking box office numbers to come.

Said executive producer and director Joyce Lee: “We’re delighted that Young & Fabulous has achieved such wonderful results, and we hope that it’ll keep going strong. One million at the box office was our target, and being able to hit it in just 19 days is a dream come true, as Young & Fabulous is our very first film and we’re new players to production. We couldn’t have done it without our talented team of actors and production crew as well as the partners who have supported us all the way. Encore Films has come a long way from distributing the great films of others to producing our very own original content, and it has been a fulfilling experience. Last but not least, we’ll like to thank the audiences who have supported this local film in cinemas. It’s a huge motivation for us to continue producing quality local films for audiences everywhere, not just Singapore.”

Young & Fabulous is now showing InCinemas, and will be released in Indonesia on 20 July and in Malaysia on 1 September, followed by Brunei, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other countries.
