The highly raved documentary by celebrated filmmaker, Werner Herzog, explores the reveries of the connect world in the Internet era, the brave new world of big data, and how the internet revolution is changing society. The film makes its Asian debut today, 18 August 2016, at the ArtScience Museum, as part of ArtScience on Screen, the museum’s film programme, which explores art, science and technology through moving image and film.
Werner Herzog, director of celebrated films including Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972), Fitzcarraldo (1982), and Grizzly Man (2005) is one of the world's most important filmmakers. Known for his extreme, unorthodox approach to filmmaking, he has won dozens of prestigious awards, and in 2009, was named one of the 100 most influential people on the planet by Time magazine.

Lo and Behold: Reveries of the Connected World
, Herzog turns his focus to the digital world. The film is a playful, yet chilling, examination of our rapidly interconnecting online lives. In Herzog’s formulation, the internet is simultaneously the world’s most valuable and dangerous invention, triggering the best and worst of human impulses.
Featuring interviews with giants of the technology world, including Elon Musk, Lawrence Krauss, Kevin Mitnick, and J Michael Vanderweghe, the film keenly explores the ramifications of the internet age. With humor, wit and the infallible authority of Herzog’s narrative voice, audiences are led on a journey of personal and intimate testimonials touching on topics from the glories of connectivity, to the dangers of hacking and Web addiction, to the unchecked possibilities of artificial intelligence and robotics.
