Film still of 'The Red Turtle'
Animation Nation is back after a four-year hiatus, featuring 5 animation films such as Studio Ghibli’s co-produced ‘The Red Turtle’, the South-East Asian premiere of ‘Boy And The World’, and even a complete retrospective of the works of critically acclaimed and award-winning animator Adam Elliot, who will also be in Singapore to present the films.
Animation Nation Festival 2016
Date:
13-16 Oct 2016
Venue:
The Projector, Alliance Française
Ticketing Price:
Opening & Closing: $16
Other films: $14
Discussions: $5
(Find out how you can purchase your tickets at the official website!)
Apart from film screenings, there will be seminars and workshops for the animation fans to learn from industry experts as they share their experiences as animation filmmakers.
The festival will open with Brazilian film ‘Boy And The World (O MENINO E O MUNDO) by Alê Abreu on 13 October 2016, which was nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature this year. You definitely wouldn’t want to miss ‘Harvie Krumpet’ by Elliot, which won the Academy Award® for Best Animated Short Film in 2004.
The local ‘SG Animated Shorts Showcase’ will screen selected Singapore shorts from new and upcoming talents by Singaporean students.
There will be a total of 5 screenings, 2 talks and 2 panel discussions during the festival.
