Pitch your story ideas and stand a chance to be mentored by Singapore’s four acclaimed filmmakers: Eric Khoo, Kelvin Tong, K. Rajagopal and Sanif Olek.
Titled Project Lapis Sagu, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote greater understanding and mutual respect between locals and foreigners here in Singapore. Project Lapis Sagu is Singapore’s first crowdsourced short film initiative on cultural diversity and social integration.
It kicks off with a contest to find the best four story ideas, which will be used by the film directors to produce four short films of 3 to 10 minutes each. From today, budding film talents and enthusiasts in Singapore can go to www.lapis-sagu.sg to share their story ideas through a logline submission of not more than 30 words.
Participants are encouraged to share their perspectives on challenges and opportunities faced in an increasingly diverse Singapore. The closing date for final submission is
11 December 2016
and the winning entries will be announced on
15 December 2016
.

Winners will have the rare opportunity to be mentored by the four film directors and see their story ideas come to life on the big screen. Each winner/winning team will be awarded a cash prize of $5,000.
‘A Yellow Bird’
director K. Rajagopal said: “This project is a collaboration not just with filmmakers, but also with like-minded people in the public who have stories and experiences to share about tolerance, integration and acceptance of each other's differences. It is going to be exciting.”
Said Eric Khoo, “Storytelling through film has the ability to bring people together. We hope to create impactful shorts that bring us closer as a community, embracing our diversity and appreciating our differences.”
[What is Project Lapis Sagu]
Singapore is a melting pot of cultures. Rich in flavour and unique in character, we’re bound together like intricately crafted layers of Lapis Sagu. Project Lapis Sagu is a creative springboard for open conversations on cultural diversity and social integration in Singapore.
