The National Youth Film Awards (NYFA) film competition is back for its third edition, with new categories introduced to non-media students aged between 18 and 35, as well as foreign students enrolled in local schools.
For the first time, the public will be able to participate by voting for their favourite films.
Starting with an open call for submissions, the competition aims to aspire youth filmmakers and discover the best emerging talent for technical film crafts in Singapore. Apart from the accustomed film awards like ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Screenplay’ and ‘Best Performance Award’, the NYFA has been handling out technical awards such as ‘Best Sound Mixing Award’, ‘Best Colour Grading Award’, ‘Best Lighting Award’, just to name a few.
This year’s jury panel comprises of the who’s who in the media industry - a total of 18 industry stalwarts from diverse backgrounds. New jurists include Yuni Hadi (Objectifs Centre of Film and Photography; Singapore International Film Festival), Jocelyn Little (Beach House Pictures), Kristin Saw (IMDA), Tan Fong Cheng (Zhao Wei Films), Gary Goh (MM2 Entertainment) filmmakers Daniel Yam and Don Aravind, and Rennie Gomes (Yellow Box Studios); among other heavyweights.
Workshops, masterclasses and screenings will also be held for the public and anyone who is interested in the film industry and wants to expand their knowledge about filmmaking.
