David Foster, Anggun and Jay Park Revealed as Judges for 2nd Season of ‘Asia’s Got Talent’!

By Flora  /  27 Jul 2017 (Thursday)

After a 2-year hiatus, music producer David Foster and singer-songwriter Anggun are back at the judges' table for the second season of the hit-rated series, ‘Asia’s Got Talent’. Joining them is Korean-American rapper-singer Jay Park, who is also known for his dancing and composing abilities.

The three judges, who arrived in Singapore today to start production of Asia’s Got Talent next week, will be tasked with judging hundreds of acts from 17 countries across the region.

In addition, Alan Wong and Justin Bratton are the new hosts of the talent competition, which is slated to air on AXN in October.

“I was really excited because it’s not just singing and it’s not just dancing. It can be a mix of acts because talent comes in the form of different types of talents. They could be magicians or could be doing comedic acts, so I feel it’s kind of exciting that I could be able to see all that… to witness all that,” said Park, who was recently signed to Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s record label.

As the new judge of the competition, Park sees himself to be quite a tough judge. “I don’t know, really… it all depends. But I don’t think I’m going to be an easy judge though because my standards are really high. I’ve seen the different types of talent and I think I might be a tough judge… we’ll see.”

“I can’t wait to argue with him,” jokes Foster, when asked about Park joining the team. “Don’t you love the concept that the gap between his age and my age are so vast and yet we share this commonality of music!”

Last season, Foster pressed the Golden Buzzer to Filipina classical singer Gerphil Flores, who went on to tour with Foster during his music tour around Asia. This year, Foster is determined to find the next singing sensation.

He says: “If you look at America’s Got Talent or Britain’s Got Talent, they have had a lot of non-singers win over the years and fairly successful, in particular magicians. I’ll be very happy if a magic act wins, but, of course, at the back of my mind, I’m looking to find the next Whitney Houston… that’s what I’m really looking for. I think Asia has it! I think she or he is somewhere out there… and I can’t wait to find them.”

“I had a lot of fun, honestly! I had one of the best moments on stage without even actually being on stage. It was really a privilege for me to be able to witness all that. And because of that, when they offered me to come back I said ‘Yes, of course!’ It was a no-brainer decision,” shares Anggun.

She adds: “With the talents, I’m looking for something that is amazing or with the scale that is beautiful and touching. I would love to find someone that just blows me away with their performances, an act that I could say, this is Asia! This comes from here! This needs to be seen worldwide.”

The 10-episode series returns to AXN in October where the winner will win a cash prize of USD$100,000 from Traveloka.
