The Kung Fu Carnival also spells eight weeks of award-winning martial arts films for movie buffs. Headlining Celestial Movies' Kung Fu Carnival starting from August would be recent box office success Ip Man, starring popular action star, Donnie Yen. Home viewers can now catch the film that popularizes Wing Chun and brought Donnie Yen to overnight stardom is Ip Man, which grossed over US$21 million worldwide and was nominated for 12 Hong Kong Film Awards, winning awards for "Best Film" and "Best Action Choreography"; Reign Of Assassins which was nominated for Hong Kong Film Awards' "Best Film" and "Best Director" categories; Dragon Tiger Gate with "Best Action Choreography" and "Best Visual Effects" at the Hong Kong Film Awards and others.

To celebrate the launch of Kung Fu Carnival, Celestial Movies is honoured to invite some movie celebrities to share about their favourite Kung Fu practices. Donnie Yen holds martial arts in great esteem Acclaimed as “The strongest of the universe”, Donnie is now one of the leading Kung Fu stars in Chinese movies, having gained international recognition as an action star along with other internationally-known actors such as Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Since nine years old, Donnie Yen has been practicing a range of martial arts styles such as Hung Quan, Wing Chun, Taekwondo and more. In his bid to develop a style that best fits his physical and psychological strengths, Donnie constantly strives to train in different schools of martial arts to master the best of each Kung Fu style.

Donnie is also recognized as a world class fight choreographer, and always aims to showcase the best Kung Fu in his movies. He insists on tailoring his Kung Fu choreography to each different character he plays, illustrated in movies shown in the Kung Fu Carnival including Dragon Tiger Gate, Ip Man and Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen, and he has long been striving to promote Chinese Kung Fu to the world through the big screen.

Wu Chun idolises Jie Quan Dao
Having featured in martial arts movies such as 14 Blades and the upcoming movie My Kingdom, the young popular idol Wu Chun admits he is crazy about Jie Quan Dao, the martial art founded by the legendary Bruce Lee. He declared that he would not forgo any chances of watching Bruce Lee related movies and that he would even try to practise the moves and stunts that were featured in the movies.

While Wu Chun regrets not having any opportunity to work with Bruce Lee, he hopes to someday be able to spar with Bruce Lee through advanced digital technology.

Han Geng’s favourite Kung Fu: Tai-Chi
Another young idol featuring in the upcoming movie My Kingdom, Han Geng, was introduced to Tai-Chi at 12 years old at his dance school. His dance teacher was keen to bring in Tai-Chi elements to improve his dance techniques, upon which sparked Han Geng’s interest in martial arts. Tai-Chi allowed him to calm himself while enhancing his “Chi” properties, which motivated him to continue practising the art to develop his physical and mental strength.

Apart from his recent collaboration with internationally acclaimed action director, Sammo Hung, in his debut film “My Kingdom”, Han Geng also hopes to film with Kung Fu movie superstars such as Jackie Chan and Jet Li in the near future.
