MOONMEN Wins GV25 Film Shorts

Golden Village crowns Moonmen the winner of its inagural film short competition for their production

. The winning team edged out two other finalists, the Apex Project and Marcus Goh.
The winning shot film was seleted by an esteemed judging panel comprising of local film industry heavyweights; directors Kelvin Tong and Boris Boo together with YouTubers Tree Potatoes, Singapore Film Society President Kenneth Tan, and Golden Village's Head of Programming Sharanjit Kaur. In addition, a voting contest was held on Golden Village's Facebook page in which the public's voice also counted as one collective vote.

Moonmen's winning short film,
Chiak
is about a family's struggle in coping with dementia while the Apex Project,
Sugar
explore time amnipulation as a key premise, where a monther and daughter struggle to reconcile their differences. Marcus Goh's comedy
Raffles v Utama: Dawn of Singapore
revisits the history of the founding of Singapore through the eyes of students whose bickering inadvertently leads to the summoning of Sang Nila Utama and Sir Stamford Raffles.
GV 25 Film Shorts saw over 200 aspiring filmmakers participating in the conpetition. Of the initial particiapnts, eight were shortlisted to appear before a a judging panel before the three finalist (Moonmen, the Apex Project and Marcus Goh) were selected.
Ontop of recieving a filmmaking grant of S$2,000 per submission, each finalist had the opportunity to be mentored by Kelvin Tong, Boris Boo and the Tree Potatoes during the filmmaking process.
As the winner of the GV 25 Film Shorts, Moonmen recieved a cash prize of S$3,000 and see their short film screened in selected Golden Village cinemas for two weeks, tagged to selected upcoming movies.
"We're very honoured to have won GV25 Film Shorts as our competitors produced great films too. Filmmaking is our passion and we came together, armed with a good dea to do what we enjoy, and wining is an added incentive for us." said Joshua Lim En of Moonmen.
Director Boris Boo and mentor of Moonmen added, "The boys did very well, and I'm very happy for them. Winning was not their top priority, but in doing that theycarde about and sending accross a message that tugs at the audience's heart strings was their goal and that ultimately got them the win. I hope to see them continue their journey in film making and I encournage more aspiring filmmakers to comr forward and tell their story."
The GV 25 Film Shorts initiative was developed by Golden Village, which was recently voted one of Singapore's top-ten favourite brands as part of its 25-year anniversary celebrations. With the theme Past, Present & Future, the competition saw more than 200 enteries from aspiring homegrown filmmakers, both young and old, following its launch in March this year.
