Every Wednesday is ‘JJANG Wednesday’ at Golden Village!

As part of a 6-week Korean film fiesta organised by Clover Films and Golden Village Multiplex, enjoy new Korean movies released every consecutive Wednesday from 11 July onwards at GV Plaza and Tiong Bahru.

JJANG (Korean Language: 짱) is a widely known Korean slang, which briefly translates to ‘Awesome’ in English. The exciting line-up includes drama film 'Little Forest'; crime-thrillers 'The Vanished, Seven Years of Night', and 'Marionette'; adult comedy 'What a Man Wants'; and romance film 'A Tiger in the Winter'. With the dedicated Korean film night, there’s an opportunity to screen more niche Korean movie titles on the big screens in Singapore. (Read each film's synopsis below)

In line with the launch, Golden Village Movieclub members stand a chance to win attractive prizes in a lucky draw at the end of the six-week fiesta, with the top prize being a pair of return tickets to Seoul! There are also 8 sets of Dookki dining vouchers worth up to $100 each to be won at the lucky draw, when they purchase a pair of tickets to any movie screened at JJANG WEDNESDAY.

Little Forest - 11 July

Synopsis
No job, bad romance, and terrible grades… Nothing goes smoothly in young Hye-won’s life in a big city. She puts her unsolved matters behind and impulsively returns her hometown. There she reunions her childhood friends Jae-ha and Eun-sook who carry their unusual rural life on their own way. From that winter Hye-won’s days are filled with simple but peaceful moments; having a meal with her organic ingredients. All through 4 seasons Hye-won slowly finds the real pleasure of living a simple life, and realizes the genuine reason to return homeland. New spring is approaching, and she puts the first step in her brand new life.

The Vanished - 18 July

Synopsis
Yoon Seol-hee, aged 45, the president of a conglomerate company, is found dead. Her body is kept in a morgue, scheduled for an autopsy by the National Forensic Service, until it mysteriously disappears without a trace. Detective Joong-sik sets out to find who, and for what reason stole the corpse.

Seven Years of Night - 25 July

Synopsis
Hyun-su is waiting to take the position of the security manager of a dam located in the remote village of Seryung. On a foggy night, he gets lost on his way to check out the company residence that he and his family will soon move into. As he struggles to find his way through the thick fog, he runs over a girl who jumps out of nowhere. Panicked, Hyun-su makes the wrong decision and dumps the body in the lake. The village is turned upside down by the child gone missing. When the girl’s body is found in the lake, Young-je, the girl’s abusive father and a major landlord in the village, is enraged and begins his own search for the killer and plans an elaborate plot to take his revenge.

What A Man Wants - 1 August

Synopsis
Seok-geun, an ex-rollercoaster-designer-turned-taxi-driver, loves his wife, Dam-deok. What he also loves is playing with fire on secret nights out. But Dam-deok’s sudden death leaves Seok-geun miserable and heartbroken. Bong-soo is the boring and prude husband of Seok-geun’s sister, Mi-young. His Italian restaurant business looks lackluster, and so is his marriage, until he meets Jenny, who later gets a job at Bong-soo’s restaurant. Fond of Jenny’s personality and good humor, Mi-young decides to hire Jenny as a housekeeper for her brother, Seok-geun, to keep him company. Will these four people be able to get along with one another?

Marionette - 8 August

Synopsis
A high school teacher named Seo-Rin encounters a mysterious person called Master through instant messaging. This figure reminds her of the past that she has always wanted to forget. As her students, boyfriend and acquaintances get involved in this incident, the situation grows more and more serious. Seo-Rin tries her best to overcome what she is going through.

A Tiger in Winter - 15 August

Synopsis
A tiger escaped from the zoo. It was winter, and it had nowhere to go. One winter day, a tiger escapes from the zoo. Gyeong-yu, who has been living off of his girlfriend, is suddenly abandoned by her for reasons he can't understand. Having nowhere to go, Gyeong-yu finds himself on the street with a suitcase. With the whereabouts of the tiger unknown, the people are gripped by a vague fear. Gyeong-yu, working for a designated driver service, drifts this way and that, and happens to come across his former girlfriend Yoo-jung. Yoo-jung has become a novelist, as Gyeong-yu once dreamed of doing. It seems they start over. However being in a tailspin, Yoo-jung is unable to write, and proposes Gyeong-yu a weird offer.
