A movie based on the popular board game, Monopoly, has been in the works for many years, but it was only recently that the project has confirmed its leading star - comedian Kevin Hart. The actor’s ‘Ride Along’ collaborator, Tim Story will direct the film.
Deadline reported: “Logline is being kept under wraps for now and a writer and shoot date have not been set. A previous version of the project centered on a young man from the game’s modest Baltic Avenue on a quest to make a fortune.”
You may recall a few years back ago when we started seeing more games-to-movie adaptations like Rihanna in
Battleship
,
Ouija
boards horror film series, the upcoming
UglyDolls
musical movie, and even an upcoming movie based on Clue which Ryan Reynolds has signed on to the project.
It comes as no surprise since the hit board game by Hasbro has been played by billions of people around the world for at least a decade. The many iterations of the game have also been well-loved by people from all walks of life. Whether this movie will make you rich like a player in the game, it’s too soon to say.
