James Gunn is Back - Rehired to direct Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy 3

Last year, writer-director James Gunn was fired from Marvel for his lewd and offensive tweets from a decade ago prior to when it was discovered.
Gunn apologised for his actions but still got the boot. Now, Disney has reversed their decision and reinstated Gunn to helm the upcoming Marvel superhero flick.

Gunn has already signed on to direct Warner Bros’ “Suicide Squad" sequel (or reboot). Deadline reported that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will go into production after Suicide Squad. The Deadline report also stated that the decision to reinstate Gunn was made several months ago with top executives.

“Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn met with Gunn on multiple occasions to discuss the situation. Persuaded by Gunn’s public apology and his handling of the situation after, Horn decided to reverse course and reinstate Gunn.”
