Anthony Chen’s ‘Wet Season’ receives 6 Golden Horse Award nominations

Local filmmaker Anthony Chen bags 6 nominations at the upcoming 56th Golden Horse Awards for his second directorial feature, Wet Season《热带雨》!
The six nominations are:
Best Narrative Feature 最佳剧情长片
Best Director (Anthony Chen) 最佳导演 (陈哲艺)
Best Leading Actress (Yeo Yann Yann) 最佳女主角 (杨雁雁)
Best Supporting Actor (Koh Jia Ler) 最佳男配角 (许家乐)
Best Supporting Actor (Yang Shi Bin) 最佳男配角 (杨世彬)
Best Original Screenplay (Anthony Chen) 最佳原著剧本 (陈哲艺)
Director Anthony Chen says, “The Golden Horse Awards has been career-changing for me with the accolades for ILO ILO in 2013. It gives me so much joy to be recognised again by the most highly regarded awards for Chinese-speaking cinema.”
Leading actress Yeo Yann Yann adds, “I am very thankful for the recognition from the Golden Horse Awards. It is already an honour to be nominated. I hope that more people can get to watch WET SEASON and I can’t wait to bring the movie back to Singapore in November.”
The 56th Golden Horse Awards will be held on November 23 in Taiwan.
In 2013, Anthony’s directorial debut ILO ILO 《爸妈不在家》 received six nominations at the 50th Golden Horse Awards. The movie went on to win four awards including Best Feature Film 最佳剧情长片, Best Supporting Actress 最佳女配角, Best New Director 最佳新导演 and Best Original Screenplay 最佳原著剧本.
Following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and screenings at various film festivals worldwide, WET SEASON will make its Singapore premiere as the Opening Film for the 30th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) on November 21. The film will subsequently open in Singapore on November 28 with sneak previews from November 22 onwards.
The movie follows the plight of Ling, a Chinese-language teacher, whose marriage and school life are fraying apart because she is unable to bear a child. But an unlikely friendship with a student helps her reaffirm her identity as a woman.
