WHAT WOMEN WANT - (View its InCinemas details)

 Genre : Romance  Premiere : Sun, 2 Oct, 9PM
Director :  Chen Da Ming  Language :  Mandarin,Cantonese
Cast : Andy Lau, Gong Li,
 Chan Chi Pang, Hu Jing
 Sub-title : Chinese, English

[Selling Points] Hollywood romantic comedy What Women Want starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt, in 2011, Chinese American writer-director Chen Da Ming remake this lovely story and moved the story background from Chicago to Beijing, this time starring Hong Kong Super Star Andy Lau and famous Chinese actress Gong Li. The changed setting actually benefits this high-concept romantic comedy, as women in the East are perceived to be more reserved, thus allowing more comedy opportunities to be derived from the contradiction between what they say and what they really want. Besides the superstar pairing, the charming movie also co-stars former idol Benny Chen (Just Call Me Nobody), TV actress Yuan Li (The Bronze Teeth), Hu Jing (Drink Drank Drunk), Anya (Naked Weapon), and American actor Russell Wong.

[Synopsis] Sun Zigang (Andy Lau), a creative executive in an advertising agency who happens to be a typical male chauvinist. Thinking that he is going to be promoted to creative director, he is angered to see the coveted position "stolen" by a new recruit named Li Yilong (Gong Li). After an accident, Sun acquires the uncanny ability to listen to the thoughts of women! This special power is both a curse and a blessing, but he soon learns to take advantage of it to enjoy an easy ride in his romantic and professional life. He uses the power against Li to steal her ideas, but in the process finds himself falling for the inner beauty of this archenemy...

LADY COP AND PAPA CROOK

Genre :  Action  Show Time :  Sun, 23 Oct, 9PM
Director :  Alan Mak, Felix Chong  Language :  Mandarin,Cantonese
Cast :  Sammi Cheng,Eason Chan, Kate Tsui,
Zhang Guo Li, Liu Kai Chi
 Sub-title :  Chinese, English

[Selling Points] Hong Kong pop singer-actress Sammi Cheng appears in cop comedy Lady Cop and Papa Crook, her first role on the big screen since Everlasting Regret. Opposite Cheng is another top Hong Kong pop singer Eason Chan. As long-time writing partners, Alan Mak and Felix Chong share writing credits for the hugely successful Infernal Affairs trilogy, Confession of Pain and the recent Overheard.

[Synopsis]
The duo won best screenplay for the first Infernal Affairs at both the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Bauhinia. John Fok (Eason Chan) is the kingpin of illegal red oil in China. When an oil tanker explodes accidentally, he becomes the focus of investigation by Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese police and is forced to halt his business to wait things out. Just as he is finally ready to turn his fortune around, however, his only son is kidnapped. Senior Inspector Molline Szeto (Sammi Cheng) is the rising star in the police force, who is well praised for busting crime with her characteristic sangfroid and precision. However, in matters of love, she is totally at wit's end. Poised at the crossroad of her life, she is thrilled to be assigned to investigate the kidnap of John's son. John dispatches his whole gang to ferret out his son's whereabouts, only to find out that his rivals are redeploying people in China to assail him. Just when he is about to order an all-out fight back, Molline suddenly arrives with her team to garrison at his house. Spurning her at first, he soon finds her critical analysis of the situation at hand both apt and useful. An unlikely cooperation between cops and crooks thus ensues, leading to conflicts and clashes galore at every step till the very end.

CURSE OF THE DESERTED

Genre :  Thriller  Show Time :  Sat, 15 Oct, 9PM
 Thu, 6 Oct, 12:40PM
 Thu, 20 Oct, 4:15PM
 Mon, 24 Oct, 11PM
Director :  Law Chi Leung  Language :  Mandarin,Cantonese
Cast :  Shawn Yue, Kitty Zhang  Sub-title :  Chinese, English

[Selling Points] Law Chi Leung, once thought of as one of Hong Kong's most promising directors after the likes of Inner Senses, Koma and Kidnap, returns for his first film since 2007 with Curse of the Deserted. Probably Hong Kong's most in-demand actor right now, Shawn Yue (Love in a Puff, the upcoming Child's Eye) stars opposite CJ7 actress Kitty Zhang (playing three roles) in the hauntingly romantic suspense thriller based on the novel of the same title by Cai Jun. In fact, two other bestsellers (The Deserted Inn and Naraka 19) from the popular Mainland novelist were previously adapted into films, and some of the plots and characters in his spine-chilling novels overlap with each other's. The film is visually very handsome, making good use of the rural scenery, filled with misty old villages, strange rock formations and dark caves, thankfully enhanced with just a few touches of reasonable CGI.

[Synopsis]
Based on his experience visiting a remote village, novelist Guo Jing (Shawn Yu) publishes a new story titled "Deserted Village" about an undying love that transcends life, death, and time. Intrigued by his tale, four inquisitive college kids set off on an expedition to the mysterious village despite Guo's warning, and when they come back, a series of inexplicable and terrifying events happen to them. Meanwhile, an enigmatic woman (Kitty Zhang) warns Guo of the deadly consequence of exposing the secret of the village. Still, the curious writer takes it upon himself to unravel the thousand-year-old mystery surrounding the haunted village...
