Movies to catch in March

Sometimes, all it takes is a trip to the movie theatre to catch your favourite film to make your day. From comedies to action films, and even a Disney live-action adaptation, there are so much for the young and young at heart!
Here are the films that are opening in theatres this March!


Disney and Pixar’s Onward


5 March
Director: Dan Scanlon
Cast: Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Octavia Spencer

The latest animation from Disney and Pixar comes in the form of a heartwarming family story of 2 teenage elf brothers who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there. Their desire to bring their father back to life brings them on a journey of love and laughter.

Kaiji: Final Game


Director: Toya Sato
Cast: Tatsuya Fujiwara, Sota Fukushi  Nagisa Sekimizu  Mackenyu Arata  Kotaro Yoshida

Based on the best-selling manga, Kaiji: The Final Game will save as the third and last chapter of the live-action film series since 2009 and is become one of the biggest gambling show of the century.

Tatsuya Fujiwara reprises his role as the born gambler Kaiji who decides to join his former underground labour camp boss in a game called “Tower of Babel” where it serves as a diversion for cash-flush old tycoons, who give hope to the weak and destitute with a chance to get rich overnight. 





Bloodshot


12 March

Cast: Vin Diesel, Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, Toby Kebbell, Guy Pearce

Vin Diesel is a superhero in Bloodshot, based on the Valiant Comics character who is said to be a mash-up of Wolverine and The Punisher. Bloodshot is intended to be the first instalment in the series of films set within the Valiant Comics and is hoping to build its own cinematic universe from it. 

Like Wolverine, Bloodshot was subjected to medical experimentation by a sinister organization, transforming him into a killing machine with few memories of his past. He can heal from nearly any injury and has made a decision to exact revenge for his stolen life on the organisation that made him what he is.




Mr. Zoo


12 March
Director: Kim Tae-Yoon
Cast: Lee Sung-Min, Kim Seo-Hyung, Bae Jeong-Nam, Shin Ha-Kyun

When a skilled agent has the special power to speak to animals, he becomes the animal-whisperer by enlisting the help of a military dog named Ali to help him and his National Intelligence Service (NIS) team to find the missing VIP. 




Trolls World Tour 


12 March
Director: Walt Dohrn, David P. Smith 
Cast: Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Sam Rockwell, Anthony Ramos, Jamie Dornan, James Corden, Kunal Nayyar, Kelly Clarkson

The colourful and musically-talented trolls are back in ‘Trolls World Tour’, with returning voice cast Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake as Poppy and Branch respectively. In the new adventure, they discover that they are just one out of the six different Troll tribes scattered over six different lands and devoted to six different kinds of music: Funk, Country, Techno, Classical, Pop and Rock.




A Quiet Place 2


19 March
Director: John Krasinski
Cast: Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Djimon Hounsou 

The follow up to John Krasinski’s breakout post-apocalyptic horror film sees the return of Emily Blunt as the wife and head of the Abbot family who now has a newborn to take care of. Krasinski wrote and directed the sequel which is set in a near-future in which society has all but been abandoned following an invasion of killer monsters that are highly sensitive to sound. Newcomers Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou will be joining the fray as fellow survivors who have found a way to get past the sound-hungry aliens.




Pee Nak 2

Thai horror-comedy Pee Nak 2 is the sequel to the 2019 film. After Monk Nong, Monk First and Monk Balloon fulfilled their pledges and defeated the ghost of Nak Nont, peace is restored at Thamma Nakanimitr Temple. However, wanting to live secular lives, Balloon and First secretly leave monkhood, leaving Nong at the temple with Novice Nott and Odd. It's not long before the two return, seeking refuge from a new ghost that has started harassing them.




Disney's Mulan


26 March

Cast: Liu Yifei, Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Gong Li, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Ron Yuan, Tzi Ma

Disney’s live-action remake of the 1998 animated classic Mulan finally hits our shores this March, with Chinese actress Liu Yifei as the warrior who takes her father's place in the army by disguising herself as a man. Though without a soundtrack or her dragon sidekick Mushu, Disney’s Mulan has been one of the highly-anticipated Disney remakes, so we are stoked for it to finally premiere next month!
