Tom Holland's new movie is getting publicity for the wrong reason

Bad publicity is still publicity, right?

Tom Holland's upcoming crime drama Cherry has been put on blast for an apparently appaling poster design. 

The film's poster has been making its rounds as part of an Oscar-season awards campaign. Variety, who was responsible for said campaign, quickly issued an apology for what it called a “digital misprint”.

Cherry is the first movie directed by the Russo Brothers since the release of Avengers: Endgame and reunites the pair with Holland for the fourth time, following their previous collaborations on Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

The film was adapted from the book of the same name by Nico Walker and revolves around "Cherry" (Holland), a former Army medic with PTSD who develops an opioid addiction and begins robbing banks to pay for his addiction. Walker based the book on his actual experiences after serving as an Army medic in the Iraq War in the 2000s and wrote it while he was serving a prison sentence.

Cherry is slated to arrive on Apple TV+ in 2021.
