Over 650 films to binge when Disney+ launches on 23rd February

By Flora  /  05 Feb 2021 (Friday)

Disney+ will launch in Singapore on 23 February, 2021, with over 650 films and 15,000 episodes of content from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, National Geographic, and Star. Singapore is the first market globally to launch Disney+ with all six iconic content brands

Original films and TV series in the upcoming slate includes Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision,” “The Mandalorian,” “Inside Pixar,” “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted,” and “Grey’s Anatomy”

The upcoming Disney animation, “Raya and the Last Dragon” will also be released through the Disney+ Premier Access alongside its theatrical release on 5 March this year.

The announcement was made live from the state-of-the-art Hybrid Broadcast Studio at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

“We are excited to officially introduce several distinguished titles that will soon be available in Singapore on Disney+ as we continue to deliver high-quality content and captivating stories, even on the small screens. From iconic Disney classics, to brand-new features from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars galaxy, and to documentaries and dramas; we are advancing the subscription video-on-demand experience with an unparalleled catalogue of entertainment,” said Amit Malhotra, Regional Lead, Emerging Markets; The Walt Disney Company APAC.

Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel, also joined in on the excitement and connected virtually for a live Q&A session with the attendees. “The Cinematic Universe weaves storylines, heroes and villains across 23 feature films to date. And with Disney+, we’re able to extend this way of storytelling to a new format – creating series that are connected to our theatrical releases, making the MCU more immersive than ever,” said Feige in a recent presentation.

Expanding the Star Wars galaxy like never before, new projects for Disney+ include “Rangers of the New Republic,” “Ahsoka,” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi”. The animated series, “The Bad Batch” will also arrive exclusively on Disney+, featuring the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in “The Clone Wars”) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.

Star, the new content brand launching on Disney+, brings a collection of renowned general entertainment series, movies documentaries content for families, older teens, and adults. These include recipient of the 2007 Golden Globe® Award for Best Drama Television Series, “Grey’s Anatomy,” Emmy Award-winning comedy series “How I Met Your Mother,” as well as Star Originals “Big Sky” and “Helstrom”.

Disney+ will launch in Singapore on 23 February, 2021 for a fee of S$11.98 a month or S$119.98 a year.

The service will be available on a range of mobile and connected devices, including gaming consoles, streaming media players, and smart TVs. In addition, existing and new StarHub Mobile, TV and Broadband customers will be able to enjoy up to two years of access to Disney+.
