are in!

full announcement
took place on Tuesday (8 February) and was hosted by actors Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan. What comes to no surprise is this year’s big celebration of film features a number of contenders from streaming services as the industry finds its footing in a period of great upheaval and transformation due to the ongoing pandemic. To say the least, we've come a long way from the Netflix/

controversy.

BELFAST
Belfast
is a coming-of-age comedy-drama film written and directed by Kenneth Branagh, described as his "most personal film". It centres on a young boy's childhood in Belfast, Northern Ireland at the beginning of The Troubles in 1969. The film stars Caitríona Balfe, Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Ciarán Hinds, Colin Morgan, and newcomer Jude Hill.
The film received seven Oscar nominations – Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Hinds), Best Supporting Actress (Dench), Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Song (Van Morrison for "Down to Joy"), and Best Sound.

is a coming-of-age comedy-drama film written and directed by Sian Heder. The film stars Emilia Jones as the eponymous CODA (child of deaf adults), the only hearing member of a deaf family. Eugenio Derbez, Troy Kotsur, Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Daniel Durant, and Marlee Matlin appear in supporting roles. It is the first film from Apple to be nominated at the Oscars and starring predominantly deaf/non-hearing cast members (Kotsur, Matlin and Durant) in leading roles.
The film is nominated for three Oscars – Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Kotsur), and Best Adapted Screenplay.
