Golden Village presents “The Hong Kong Film Awards: Winners Special” Movie Showcase exclusively at GV VivoCity!

By InCinemas  /  30 Apr 2025 (Wednesday)

Golden Village is proud to present "The Hong Kong Film Awards: Winners Special" Movie Showcase, exclusively at GV VivoCity from 9 to 12 May 2025!

This exclusive showcase features three Hong Kong films that won multiple awards at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards:

THE LAST DANCE

The pandemic has sent most industries into recession. Mired in debt, wedding planner Dominic (Dayo Wong) gets a miraculous chance to turn things around when a funeral planner retires and passes the baton to him. Planning weddings and funerals are polar opposites, but Dominic puts his all into his new job, from opening graves, digging coffins, to handling the deceased. No matter how unpleasant it gets, he takes on everything with gusto. However, the biggest obstacle is getting the approval of respected Taoist priest, Master Man (Michael Hui).

Dominic plans funerals like weddings, throwing in growth montage videos, photo spots and even live streaming. These gimmicks help his business rake in cash, but his deviance from traditions also create many obstacles for him. But thanks to Master Man’s help, Dominic is able to do his job. Dominic realises that funerals are not about sending off the dead, but sending off the living by giving them a chance to bid farewell to the dead.

The film bagged 5 awards including Best Actress (Michelle Wai) and Best Supporting Actor (Tommy Chu).

PAPA

Café owner Nin’s mundane but contented life is shattered forever when his fifteen-year- old son Ming slashes his mother and younger sister to death one evening. Diagnosed with acute schizophrenia, Ming is remanded to a psychiatric prison indefinitely until full recovery. Aside from visiting his son twice a month, Nin continues to lead a pedestrian existence, while memories of his wife, daughter, and son keep flooding into his head. As time passes, Nin has given up on knowing the reason behind the misfortune. He only wishes that one fine day, Ming, his sole remaining family but also the murderer of his family, will come home again.

The film clinched 3 acting awards, namely Best Actor (Sean Lau), Best Supporting Actress (Jo Koo) and Best New Performer (Dylan So).

TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN

In the 1980s, troubled youth Chan Lok Kwun (Raymond Lam) accidentally enters the Walled City, discovers the order amidst its chaos, and learns important life lessons along the way. In the Walled City, he becomes close friends with Shin, Twelfth Master and AV. Under the leadership of Tornado (Louis Koo), they resist the invasion of the villain, Mr Big (Sammo Hung), in a series of fierce battles. Together, they vow to protect the safe haven that is Kowloon Walled City.

The film received the most wins, with a total of 9 awards including Best Film and Best Director (Soi Cheng).

These films will be presented in their original Cantonese language across 15 screening sessions during the four-day event. Tickets to “The Hong Kong Film Awards: Winners Special” Movie Showcase will be available from 3:00pm on 2 May 2025 via Golden Village’s official sales channels including its website www.gv.com.sg.
