Slated for release towards the end of 2012,
Imperfect
《我们都不完美》is a local action film dealing with rebel youths and triads. Now in the midst of production, Hong Kong director Steve Cheng (郑伟文), and some of the cast, including respected Hong Kong actor Liu Kai Chi (廖启智), known for his roles in
Infernal Affairs II
《无间道 II》,
The Beast Stalker
《证人》, and
The Viral Factor
《逆战》, and popular Taiwanese actress Chiang Tsu-ping (江祖平), known for her role in the television drama,
Love
爱, found time to attend the "Meet the Media" session this afternoon at K Union at the Cathay Cineleisure Orchard!

Li Nanxing (李南星), who is acting and serving as executive producer for
Imperfect
, talked about how this film would be reflecting certain gang issues and youth problems in Singapore. This is made more significant after recent incidents involving assaults on youths by suspected members of rival gangs made the headlines.
Director Steve Cheng also explained, "Singapore is rather peaceful, so there are fewer acts of violence here as compared to in Hong Kong. Still, we hope this film can educate the audiences about various problems related to youths."

Imperfect
also stars local teen idols Edwin Goh (吴劲威), Ian Fang (方伟杰), Kimberly Chia (谢静仪), Phua Yu Da (潘昱达), and Elizabeth Lee (李巧儿). When asked what he thought of Singapore's young actors, Steve Cheng mentioned that the young actors here were more innocent than those in Hong Kong. "In Hong Kong, they may listen to you, but they can be defiant, and not do what they are told to do. So I have enjoyed working with the young cast here as the environment here is better and more understanding," he explained.

InCinemas
had the chance to interview the young stars face-to-face, and we asked if shooting the film was physically demanding, considering that
Imperfect
is an action film. "There are lots of running and fight scenes. So we have felt muscle aches and pain," Ian said, "However, we know filming an action movie is like that, so we are mentally prepared. It's a tough job, really."

Two of the young cast, Yu Da and Elizabeth, are currently studying at Nanyang Junior College, with the latter taking her 'A' Levels this year. We asked them how they were dealing with schoolwork, and they said they were barely coping. "It's difficult, but our tutors are actually very understanding. They even try their best to find time to give us extra tutoring sessions!"
Edwin, who is working closely with Taiwanese actress Tsu-ping, praised her for her professionalism. "She is very humorous on the set. But when it comes to the actual shoot, she is extremely focused. Even when she is not facing the camera directly like filming her from the back, she still gives her all."

Director Steve Cheng realized that parents nowadays are having difficulties communicating with their children. "There seems to be a distant relationship between parent and child, so I hope that this film Imperfect will reflect this lack of communication, and allow viewers to recognize the importance of communication in families," he said.
InCinemas wishes the cast and crew success in their shoot, which will wrap around March. Stay tuned for more news regarding
Imperfect
, and do look forward to catching it in theaters towards the end of the year!
Imperfect
is presented by Solvil et Titus.
