InC-terview with TIMELESS LOVE singer Issac Dang (邓冠圣)!

TIMELESS LOVE 《那个夏天》 movie theme song [当我们正同在一起] premiered on 93.3FM station on 16 February 2012, Thursday and created a buzz on yes933 Facebook page. That particular Facebook status about Timeless Love theme song received over 100 comments from listeners, most of whom expressed their interest and curiosity to find out who the new singer is!

Apparently, the clean and soothing voice had made an impression that night.. And the singer is none other than Issac Dang (邓冠圣)!

InCinemas got in touch with the breakout Malaysian singer, Issac Dang (邓冠圣), who has recorded the theme song, [当我们正同在一起] and [那个夏天] for the upcoming local coming-of-age youth motivational movie, Timeless Love 《那个夏天》 slated for release InCinemas 8 March 2012.

So there we are, enjoy our InC-terview with Issac below~

1) InCinemas: Your song for Timeless Love has made its debut at several radio stations in Singapore, and has caught the attention of many listeners. Did you ever think that you will become a singer one day?

Issac: Never! Only in my dream :) I am very blessed to have this opportunity to sing the theme song for Timeless Love, and have the opportunity to work with the best musicians here. I remember seeing names like George Leong, who had worked with big names like Karen Mok, Amei, Jonathan Lee, Sandy Lam etc. on the Karaoke screen, as well as well-known producer Jim Lim.

2) InCinemas: Tell us more about how you came to sing for Timeless Love.

Issac: Like a fairy tale and sometimes it seems unreal - singing at K Box. Dasmond Koh heard me sing, came in and asked if I would like to sing for his movie :)

3) InCinemas: What kind of special preparations did you make when you found out that you were going to sing the theme song for Timeless Love?

Issac: Sing, sing, sing and sing. Spending endless hours at K Box to practice singing :)

4) InCinemas: It was mentioned in U-Weekly that your parents influenced you in music since you were young. How have they played a part in your approach to music?

Issac: I grew up listening to many classic Mandarin songs on my parents' radio; songs that I didn't even know the name of, but when I grew older, I would actually sing along to the songs of Tsai Chin (蔡琴)，Teresa Teng (邓丽君)，Feng Fei Fei (凤飞飞). Their beautiful voices made me dream of singing one day.

5) InCinemas: You are a designer previously and now you have stepped into the music industry. What kind of adjustments have you made, now that you are gaining more attention from the media?

Issac: I am still a graphic designer working for a local distributor of fashion brands, My colleagues have been very supportive, This is only the beginning and I don't think many changes need to be made now. Life as it comes, ya?

6) InCinemas: Any thoughts of going full-time as a singer in the near future? What are some considerations that will affect your decision?

Issac: Can't say for much now. I have only recorded two songs and I am glad many who heard them like my singing. For now, I would probably do my best now and let the future take care of itself :)

7) InCinemas: Do you think your slight resemblance to Edison Chen will aid you in reaching out to the masses? How are good looks important to a singer these days?

Issac: Do I really look like Edison Chen? It's a real compliment because he is great looking. Looking good is important, but the most important is to have a good voice that can deliver the emotions that can move the listeners, so I am working hard on this.

8) InCinemas: Are there any singers you look up to and why? Are there any songs in particular you listen to?

Issac: I like singers like Eason Chan, Jacky Cheung, Yoga Lin, and Faye Wong. They all have their own personal styles in term of persona and style of singing. I listen to mostly ballads, sentimental and slow rock. My playlists now include Eason's [浮夸]，[兄妹]，[孤独患者] , Jacky's [李香兰]，[爱是永恒] and Yoga's [自然醒]，[伯乐]，[感同身受].

9) InCinemas: Do you have plans for releasing an album in future? What kind of style would you go for?

Issac: I really don't know for sure. I hope the listeners are liking my songs for now and if that's what they want, I would definitely look forward to making an album.

10) InCinemas: We were informed that you’ll be singing for Li Nanxing’s latest movie, Imperfect, and we certainly look forward to your upcoming songs. Besides this, can you tell us more about any future plans and projects you have in mind?

Issac: Frankly, things are moving too fast and something things seem surreal. I am happy and content now to be given the opportunity to sing for Imperfect and will see what is to come.
