[Sneak Peek before the Grand Opening of Transformers Cybertron Con 2012!]
During the media preview of the Transformers Cybertron Con 2012 this afternoon, InCinemas managed to InC-terview two die-hard Transformers enthusiasts, who were very happy to share their thoughts with us!
An avid collector of Optimus Prime toys, Gerald Chua, 29, took some time to speak about his passion, his thoughts about Cybertron Con, and his favourite Transformers movie.
When asked what triggered him to take up this hobby, he said, "I took a trip to Japan, and I saw many toy shops selling familiar Transformers toys. At that time, I was older and had some spending power, so I started buying a few toys, and it went on to become a hobby."
His most expensive toy is the third edition of Optimus Prime, costing about S$850. And that is one out of about 100 toys Gerald has in his collection. "As long as there is something I fancy, I won't stop collecting them," he said.

"Cybertron Con is a good start for Singapore. It is something to feel proud about as a Singaporean," Gerald shared his thoughts about the event. The Cybertron Con was last hosted in Shanghai in 2010. "The must-see part of the Con is the rarer toys from Generation One!"
Finally, when asked which Transformers movie was his favourite, Gerald did not hesitate to say the first installment. "Why? Because it had character development," he said wryly

One of the highlights of Transformers Cybertron Con is a section called 'Transformers Reimagined', where celebrities, designers, and hobbyists have re-imagined Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in a myriad of fantastical scenarios and alternate universes.
InCinemas spoke to one of the hobbyists whose work will be showcased in this section. Jian Yang, 32, introduced to us his work, 'I'd kill for those shoes!', which he described as "messed up". After all, it was a sight not for the squeamish. It showed Optimus Prime stepping on a Barbie doll whose head had been decapitated. And we haven't described the blood around it...

When asked about the concept behind this gory exhibit, Jian Yang explained that Singapore was a retail-driven society, thus he wanted to show that even Optimus Prime would kill a doll for her shoes. "It was also a tongue-in-cheek attempt to pit an action figure against a doll," he added. However, he had no comments when we asked him if he was implying that Hasbro was crushing Mattel (which distributes Barbie dolls) with their Transformers toys.
Jian Yang also revealed to us that he is one of the contenders for Cleo's 50 Most Eligible Bachelors. Talking about a hot guy mutilating a Barbie doll for fun~!
