Singapore, 27 June 2012 - It started with more than 500 contestants. One private casting, two full days of open auditions in a shopping mall and thereafter one closed-door audition to further sieve out the gems. Today, the newly-minted 14 finalists of the inaugural Sunsilk Academy Fantasia are finally unveiled!
These finalists will undergo intensive training in a purpose-built academy in an undisclosed location in Singapore, closely monitored by close circuit cameras and multiple hidden cameras up to 18 hours a day! They will be putting their work and studies on hold, to lead a different life under the limelight, under constant public scrutiny, and have limited access to phones and internet, cut off from the outside world.
Stay tuned at
www.InCinemas.sg
as we'll be showing a little more about each contestant!
The winner of the inaugural Sunsilk Academy Fantasia will walk away with a two-year singing contract and a recording album with Ocean Butterflies Music.

Sunsilk Academy Fantasia marks StarHub’s first major foray into content production, alongside local renowned production house, Refinery Media. The concept was first originated in Mexico in 2002 and it quickly scored top ratings, generating more than 10 million votes in its first season!
And we find the concept pretty much similar to
The Hunger Games
when we were first introduced to this!

Launch of Sunsilk Academy Fantasia Mobile App
To enable fans and viewers to ride along the entire Sunsilk Academy Fantasia journey, StarHub has developed a special mobile app, the Sunsilk Academy Fantasia app. Its highly interactive format comes fully loaded with biographies of the finalists; photo and media galleries that allow viewers to check out exclusive photos and videos taken during events and activities. Users can even vote for their favourite contestant via the app. The star attraction of the app is the karaoke function. It enables users to sing along to lyrics on a minus one track, and conveniently share their singing pieces thereafter via Facebook.
