SINGAPORE -- When Hainan Meets Teochew will be extended by another week at the Arts House following sellout sessions over the weekend!
The film resumed screenings on 13 Jan and at least one session sold out even before the day itself. Director Han Yew Kwang is elated by the strong support: “In addition to the press who has helped us tremendously, word of mouth publicity has a feel-good factor in itself.... It will only work when the audience likes the film.”
The audience were from different age groups and backgrounds. Many heard about the film from the press, the internet, or were recommended by their families and friends. Many Hainanese and Teochew also turned up to watch the film, and were laughing away loudly at the various parts where jokes were told in Hainanese and Teochew.
