Let 'The Perks Of Being A Wallflower' take you to infinity!
By
InCinemas
/
12 Oct 2012 (Friday)
Sam (Emma Watson) stands at the back of the truck, raises both of her hands and feels the gust of the winds against her body. Seated at the front of the truck, you turn around to look back at this woman who seems so beautiful no matter how you see her.
You can't help but to see things through the eyes of our wallflower, Charlie (Logan Lerman), and when he says 'I feel infinite', you know that's roughly how you're feeling as well.
Watch this particular scene from the movie at InCinemas and read the extract from the novel itself on the tunnel experience that we have included below! It becomes even more meaningful after reading the extract and the experience could probably take you 'to infinity, and beyond'! Be sure to check out!
Note: There's a number of promotional clips available online for
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
. Watching too many of them may 'spoil' the movie for you. This clip by itself is alright so no worries, it's safe!
Whether you feel blissful, loved, high, limitless or free from all problems and worries is solely up to your own interpretation of this famous quote from the novel/movie at that precise moment.

But after
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
, we can almost guarantee that whenever you're against the wind, or with your arms spread wide open, the first thing you think of is not
Titanic
, but the moment of 'feeling infinite'.
Now read this excerpt from the novel.
"There’s something about that tunnel that leads to downtown. It’s glorious at night. Just glorious. You start on one side of the mountain, and it’s dark, and the radio is loud. As you enter the tunnel, the wind gets sucked away, and you squint from the lights overhead. When you adjust to the lights, you can see the other side in the distance just as the sound of the radio fades because the waves just can’t reach. Then, you’re in the middle of the tunnel, and everything becomes a calm dream. As you see the opening get closer, you just can’t get there fast enough. And finally, just when you think you’ll never get there, you see the opening right in front of you. And the radio comes back even louder than you remember it. And the wind is waiting. And you fly out of the tunnel onto the bridge. And there it is. The city. A million lights and buildings and everything seems as exciting as the first time you saw it. It really is a grand entrance." (Page.191-192)
Doesn't it make you want to experience this?
The tunnel scene in the movie uses the soundtrack 'Heroes' by David Bowie. But in the book, Fleetwood Mac's 'Landslide' was mentioned instead. This is one small detail that gives a different feeling to 'infinite' because of the stark contrast in the songs' genre.

7 big differences
spotted between
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
movie and the novel by Cinemablend.
To some extent, director Stephen Chbosky reminds me of
The Apple Of My Eye
author, Giddens Ko, because they both wrote a coming-of-age novel and refuse other directors to turn their novels to movies. And you know they did the right thing when you have enjoyed watching their movies. Interestingly, both movies are receiving good reviews across the board.

Be sure to experience the 'infinite' feeling in theatres!
And for those who have yet to read the book, but wish to do so after checking out the movie, we recommend NOQstore, with this
link that leads you to where you want to
.
We'll leave with a memorable quote from the movie.
"This one moment when you know you're not a sad story. You are alive, and you stand up and see the lights on the buildings and everything that makes you wonder. And you're listening to that song and that drive with the people you love most in this world. And in this moment I swear, we are infinite."
Enjoy~
