Korean Host Yeon Jung-Hoon was here in Singapore to promote 'Top Gear Korea'

Viewers “got into action” with Korean adaptation of hit reality series,
'Top Gear Korea', as one of the hosts, Yeon Jung-Hoon, made a surprise
visit to Singapore last Saturday, 19 January. Check out our interview with the Korean host after the jump!

InCinemas managed to meet 'Top Gear Korea' host, Yeon Jung-Hoon, when he
was here in Singapore to promote the second season of 'Top Gear Korea'!
There was a translator to help us communicate with the Korean actor.
'Top Gear Korea' (Season 2) debuts in Singapore on 22nd January 2013
and is shown on KIX (Starhub Cable TV Channel. 518) and KIX HD (SingTel
mioTV Channel. 309) every Tuesday at 9pm.
The Season 2 will feature an impressive race between Cobra Helicopter and a Corvette ZR1, and a never-seen-before car football match between Korea and Japan, among other experiments that will push the boundaries.
Q: How do you find Singapore so far?
- Jung-Hoon: It's been really exciting. Food was so fantastic. Exotic. City is neat and clean and he's impressed.
Q: Top 3 memorable episodes in Top Gear Korea?
- Jung-Hoon: I have a lot of memorable episodes. If I were to pick 3, I'll go with the February challenge that we went in Shanghai, China. It was very exciting because I got to race with the exotic and expensive cars. In season one, there is this Japanese racer who had taught me how to do drifting technique and the experience left me a deep impression. Another one in Season 2, was the car football match between Korea and Japan.
Q: Cars are always associated with speed and adrenaline rush. What is the most exciting and dangerous thing you have done before?
- Jung-Hoon: It's probably playing soccer by cars. Soccer itself involves body contact and imagine playing the sports in the cars, it could lead to crashes! Despite the potential danger, we still went ahead and play without reservations. At times, cars got turned over but it didn't stop us from continuing and we're eager to play on although we could have suffer injuries in the process.
Q: Did your car flipped?
- Jung-Hoon: Yes but fortunately, I didn't suffer injuries during the match.
Q: As a car enthusiast, how many sports cars do you have?
- Jung-Hoon: I used to have a lot but now there is only one left.
Q: There are several guests who had appeared in Top Gear Korea. Have you ever consider to having your wife, Han Ga-In in the show?
- Jung-Hoon: This did come across in some casual talks but I didn't really think much about my wife appearing in the show. Because if she's invited to the show, she'll have to go through gruesome training prior to filming, so I'm concern about her participating in the sports. Also, my wife is the winner type who would give her all in order to win. In another way, I find it kind of mental taxing when couples do the show together. So this idea didn't really come true.

Q: Have you tried doing drifting with your wife in the sports car?
- Jung-Hoon: We don't do drifting in streets so we have never done that. Unlike passenger cars, the seats in the sport cars are tight and require you to buckle up the safety belts. Despite the fact that it's so uncomfortable, my wife can actually fall asleep once she has settle down. So even if I had performed drifting, she won't know that.
Q: What are you like during your school years? Are you rebellious during that period?
- Jung-Hoon: My passion towards the achievement of the academy awards was very high even in high schools. I'm not always that obedient when listening to parents but I didn't have much particular trouble with my parents so as to speak. I have natural liking for cars, along with my group of friends, on the modifications of cars during high schools.
Q: Any earlier roles or favourite characters you wold like to recommend to the younger viewers?
- Jung-Hoon: There is this drama call 'Jejungwon' (2009). Long time ago in Korea, there's western medication embark in Korea. I play as a doctor who starts out as a not-so-kind man. His philsophy is that one's live is not so significant compared to the hundreds. On the other hand, my opponent feels that every life is of great importance. This two people has conflicting philosophies and the drama has a lot of historical plot that the youth can reflect on. I will recommend 'Jejungwon' if you ask me.
Q: What do you do during your free time.
- Jung-Hoon: (laughs) I'm a social drinker.
Q: Share with us some of your upcoming projects?
- Jung-Hoon: I'm preparing for the season 4. There are a few dramas but still in negotiation so I can't comment anything more on that.
