Unknown Ladies behind Chen Han Wei during Filming of Ghost Child!

There’s always the inevitable eerie happenings when you decide to make a horror film and
Ghost Child《鬼仔》
was no exception. On top of that,
Ghost Child
was filmed during the middle of the Hungry Ghost Festival.
Directed by Gilbert Chan, the man behind the successful army ghost story
23:59
is back with another horror film and this time, he tackles the story of the South East Asian mythology, ghost child, or widely known as ‘Toyol’ or ‘Kwee Kia’.
During the press conference held at Goodwood Park Hotel, Chan agreed that to make a horror movie, it should not only be able to scare the audiences, but also to have a good amount of suspense required.
Chen Han Wei was the first actor to be casted and although this will mark his movie debut, the producers were very keen on having him on the show.
When asked about strange happenings during the filming period, all the lead actors had a story to tell.
Carmen Soo found her co-actor having a deep cut on the finger while shooting a scene. According to her, the props were properly set and there were no sharp objects lying around. Moreover, it was not the first take when the incident happened. Little did they know, it was because of a ‘pork dumpling’ which was a ‘restricted’ food item that day, as advised by the master.
21 year-old model-actress Jayley Woo also shared her story where she couldn’t stop crying after an emotional scene. “My tears just kept flowing and I couldn’t stop. It went for about 10 minutes before I managed to calm myself down.”
She admitted that she is afraid to watch horror movies and practiced many ‘rituals’ during the 21 days of filming. Besides going to the temple to pray prior to the shoot, she added that she drank talisman water which she received from the temple.
It was Chen’s strange encounter that sent chills down our spine. What intended to be a Facebook update became a photo he’ll never forget. “I posted a photo on Facebook and my friends replied asking who were the people behind me. I thought they were just trying to play a prank but after checking the photo, there really was a vague shadow of what seemed like two ladies standing together,” the veteran actor recalled.
He was sure that it was neither the crew nor cast members and that no one wore sleeveless shirts that day.
We asked him if he would revisit the location again, he replied without hesitation a firm ‘yes’, ‘I’m really not afraid of it,’ he continued. His co-actors agreed in unison he was the bravest among them all and would often act as a pillar of support due to his fearless attitude.
Ghost Child
tells the story of Kim, a teenager overcoming the grief of her mother’s death. A series of mysterious and strange incidents start to occur after Kim’s dad brought home a woman from Indonesia one day and announces to marry her. What is behind the series of strange and mysterious happenings? Could it be the jealous spirit of Kim’s mother, or is it something else?
