About Saving General Yang
Saving General Yang, which has an official budget of US$26 million, returns veteran action star Adam Cheng 郑少秋 to the big screen after an absence of two decades. He plays the legendary Northern Han general Yang Ye who defended the Song Dynasty's borders from the Khitan warriors of the Liao Dynasty in the 10th century.The story is set in 986 A.D., during another Khitan invasion, when Yang's army is surrounded by much larger forces and abandoned by political rivals. His loyal seven sons, each a skilled warrior, set out to rescue him and bring him back home with vengeful Liao General Yelu Yuan in pursuit.
The seven brothers are played by a pan-Chinese cast from Hong Kong (Ekin CHENG 鄭伊健, Raymond LAM 林峰), Taiwan (Vic CHOU 周渝民, WU Chun 吳尊) and China (YU Bo 于波, LI Chen 李晨, FU Xinbo 付辛博). Award-winning Mainland actress XU Fan 徐帆 plays General Yang's capable wife.
