The Croods Opened at #1 in Singapore and the US!

By InCinemas  /  26 Mar 2013 (Tuesday)

The latest family animated film from Dreakworks Animation, ‘The Croods’ did a splendid job during its opening weekend, grossing S$1,021,427 at the local box-office and USD$44,700,000 at the US box-office!

This well-loved 3D movie is definitely a crowd-pleaser with the children. With its unique over-arching theme of cavemen on a road trip to a stellar casts to boost the movie’s popularity, it is no wonder Eep and family made such an impressive mark at box-offices worldwide.

I was one of the millions who contributed to the ‘S$1,021,427’ and the theatre was filled with children, laughing and screaming throughout the film, even the adults seated behind me were behaving like one of their kids.

The Croods is a 3D comedy adventure that follows the world's first modern family through the journey of a lifetime. When the cave that has always been their home is destroyed – with the rest of their world not far behind it – The Croods are forced to set off on the first family road (or path) trip. Rocked by generational clashes and seismic shifts, The Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures, and a future beyond any they imagined.

Voiced by Academy Award-winner Nicolas Cage (Father Grug), Golden Globe nominated actress Emma Stone (curious Eep), hottie Ryan Reynolds (knowledgable Guy), accomplished actress Catherine Keener (mama Ugga), Hollywood icon Cloris Leachman (Gran) and talented musician Clark Duke (obedient Thunk). With so much star-power in one movie, one can’t help but to pay for a ticket to catch this modern prehistoric comedy.

With any journey comes discovery – and The Croods’s trek provides many “firsts,” including: the aforementioned family, road trip, fire and shoes, as well as the first pet, the first cell phone (OK, it’s a shell, but still) …plus: the first joke, the first pair of sunglasses, and even the first mid-life crisis. Most of all, The Croods is about family, the strong bonds and unspoken love that we all possess inside us.
