Singapore Films to Cannes!

Singapore returns to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year with the World Premiere of Anthony Chen’s debut feature film of
Ilo Ilo
, and short film director Jow Zhi Wei's
After the Winter (Au-delà de L'hiver)
is in the running for the Cinefondation Prize.
Anthony Chen’s debut feature film will be screened at the 45th Directors' Fortnight, known for selecting cutting-edge films with an original directorial style. As a director, he will also be eligible for the Caméra d’Or Award, a distinction for the best first feature film in the Official Selection (Competition or Un Certain Regard), the Director’s Fortnight or International Critics’ Week.
About Ilo Ilo
Set in Singapore in the 1990s, Ilo Ilo chronicles the relationship between a young boy and his maid from Iloilo, a province in the Philippines. The film is supported by the Singapore Film Commission.

Jow Zhi Wei’s short film is in the running for the Cinéfondation Prize, under the Cinéfondation Selection, which showcases student works, has selected 18 short films (14 fiction films and 4 animated films) among the 1,550 submissions from 277 schools from around the world this year.
After the Winter (Au-delà de L'hiver)
, directed by Singaporean Jow Zhi Wei, is among the films that have been selected. The top three winners will be awarded the Cinéfondation Prize at a ceremony prior to the screening of the winning films on 24 May.
About After the Winter (Au-delà de L'hiver)
The 19 minute short film was produced by Le Fresnoy, co-produced by local filmmaker Michael Kam, and support by the Singapore Film Commission. It is about An old Chinese couple is in a small village, waiting.
Cannes Film Festival - Short Film Corner!
