Netflix drops the first trailer to 'The Queen's Gambit'

Anya Taylor-Joy stars as orphaned chess prodigy Beth Harmon in Netflix's new miniseries, The Queen's Gambit.

Beth wants to be the best and beat the current Russian champ. Unfortunately, she also suffers from an intense addiction to pills and alcohol that threaten to turn her genius into madness. The Queen’s Gambit also stars Marielle Heller, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Moses Ingram, Harry Melling, and Bill Camp.

Scott Frank (Logan) writes and directs the seven-episode limited series that is based on the novel of the same name by Walter Tevis.

The Queen's Gambit will premiere on Netflix October 23.
