Fans are raving over the new 'Mortal Kombat' trailer!

By Rachelle  /  19 Feb 2021 (Friday)

The rebooted Mortal Kombat movie has debuted its first trailer and fans are loving it!

The movie has an R-rating and looks to be very violent, making it much like the games it’s based on. The biggest stand-out is of course the fan favourite character, Sub-Zero. Fans' positive reactions have even moved producer Todd Garner to tears. Check out some reaction tweets below:

Fan anticipation for the latest Mortal Kombat movie has been high, with a proper reboot of the series long overdue. The last live-action Mortal Kombat film, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation was released in 1997. While the first film, released in 1995, was seen as a guilty pleasure, Annihilation was universally panned, causing all plans for a follow up sequel to be shelved.

Many beloved characters from the video games will appear in the 2021 version with cast including Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jax Briggs, Josh Lawson as Kano, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Max Huang as Kung Lao, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Elissa Cadwell as Nitara and Daniel Nelson as Kabal.

Watch the redband trailer below:

This movie marks Simon McQuoid's directorial debut with David Callaham, who's currently working on the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel, as screenwriter.

Mortal Kombat will open in cinemas on April 8.
